ABOUT THE TENYO ART GALLERY
I created this project as a fun way for Tenyophiles to learn about art. It was a lot of work to create the Tenyo Art and just as much work to compile all of the information and create the page. There is a wealth of interesting information and I recommend that you explore all the links. I hope you enjoy this page and that you learn something as well. I for sure learned a lot while creating this page.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer of the High Renaissance who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. He is known for his sculptures as much as his paintings. His sculpture of David (from the bible story of David and Goliath) is one of the most know sculptures in existence today. You can see David in Florence, Italy but In my opinion his sculpture Pietà is the most beautiful of all his creations. You can see the Pietà in St. Peter’s Basilica, in the Vatican, Italy.
INTERESTING FACT: The self-portrait shown below was hidden in his last painting Crucifixion of Saint Peter.
QUOTE: “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”

He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. The Mona Lisa which hangs in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France is one of the most famous paintings of all time. Another famous painting of Leonardo is the Last Supper painted on a convent wall in Milan, Italy.
INTERESTING FACT: Leonardo’s design for a parachute was actually used to build a working parachute that was tested by a brave human from 10,000 feet. See Video
QUOTE: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
TENYO IN ARTWORK: T-162 Credit Slasher

QUOTE: “I have drawn things since I was six. All that I made before the age of sixty-five is not worth counting. At seventy-three I began to understand the true construction of animals, plants, trees, birds, fishes, and insects. At ninety I will enter into the secret of things. At a hundred and ten, everything–every dot, every dash–will live”
TENYO IN ARTWORK: T-35 Water Suspension
PHOTOSHOP COMMENTS: I had to redo this one. For some reason the image file I originally started with had the wrong aspect ratio. It was too narrow by a lot. I found this out later when I was working on the informative part. Most people would never have noticed, but I had to make it right. I always taught that maintaining the aspect ratio was very important.

NATIONALITY: Dutch
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Vincent van Gogh’s work is noted for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color. Van Gogh has had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died at age 37 from what was thought to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.
INTERESTING FACT: The self-portrait linked to below shows Van Gogh with his ear bandaged. In December 1888, frustrated and ill, Van Gogh confronted artist Paul Gauguin with a razor blade. Van Gogh greatly admired Gauguin, and desperately wanted to be treated as his equal, but Gauguin was arrogant and domineering, a fact that often frustrated Van Gogh. Van Gogh left the confrontation in panic and fled to a local brothel. While there, he cut off parts of his left ear. He wrapped the severed ear in newspaper and handed it to a prostitute, asking her to “keep this object carefully.” He staggered home, where he was later found by Gauguin lying unconscious with his head covered in blood.

TENYO IN ARTWORK: T-133 Bare Bones, T-130 Tricky Business

TENYO IN ARTWORK: T-156 The Haunting
PHOTOSHOP COMMENTS: This is one of my favorites. It was not working too well until I placed the eyes from the painting into the skeletons eye sockets and it came to life. The eyes are actually in the exact same position that they are in the real painting. I just used a layer mask to reveal them from behind.
