Re: May I introduce myself?

Thanks Shan! I'm afraid I have to slow down my collecting activities a bit - 74 Tenyos in three months was quite a hefty investment. But a rewarding one. :-) And I'm going on, of course, just at a slower pace.

Re: Themed Tenyo show

Yes, Brett, familiy and friends are going to be my audience. However, I have befriended some of my business partners, so these are possible spectators too, although in a slightly more formal environment. I know exactly what you mean when you say that some Tenyos are tricky to present properly. Amazi...

Re: Themed Tenyo show

Hello Brett H, Thanks a lot for your welcome and advice. :) Yes, I do like the idea of an all-Tenyo show. The limitations make it all the more compelling, but then again, with 250+ effects there's a plethora to choose from. I've read indeed about Mike H's birthday show, and I think it's wonderful. I...

Themed Tenyo show

The other day, I started thinking about a little hobby-themed close-up show that consists exclusively of Tenyo effects. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far. What do you think of it? I’d appreciate your suggestions. I’d start by saying that in this busy age fewer and fewer people find the time to pu...

Re: Recreating Tenyo

Not only does this look very cool, it's also a perfect choice of trick. While many Tenyo effects are good because they are lightweight and small, the door theme really does benefit from something sturdier. I guess the effect will even be stronger than the original.

Re: May I introduce myself?

Hello Victor, Yes, it's great and a tiny bit crazy, us talking about Frank Schulz and his long-gone magic shop on this forum, and I enjoy it very much. (By the way, Frank Schulz is the name of a well-known German writer too.) No wonder you remember Magic and More so well - Antigravity Rock, Future C...

Re: BluBob from USA

Hello BluBob, I'm new here too, so greetings from another newcomer. Having been mentored by Robert Nelson must have given you a great start in mentalism. Last year, with a rekindled interested in cold reading, I read his "The Art of Mentalism" again. Great stuff, and his way of thinking is still fre...

Re: May I introduce myself?

Thanks Gaz, I'm sure I will! I'm very fond of British culture, by the way, so it's always nice to meet a Briton.

Re: May I introduce myself?

Thanks very much, John, for the welcome. I look forward to participating here. It's a great forum and a great sister website as well, that much I know from lurking around these parts for several months. It's good to be a part of it now.

Re: May I introduce myself?

Hello Rob Rand, your German is excellent, if I may say so, as is so often the case with the Dutch. I have some Dutch friends, and I sometimes feel ashamed that they speak German so well while so few Germans speak any Dutch at all. Ik spreek en betje Nederlands maar ook niet goed. I will happily emai...

Re: May I introduce myself?

Thanks for the warm welcome, VictorS. What a nice surprise, your German is perfect. :P Yes, Zauberkönig still does exist, but it's got new owners, two young ladies, one of whom is the granddaughter of the old "Zauberkönig" ("magic king", of all things). I used to go to Freer's as well, but I wasn't ...

Re: May I introduce myself?

Yes, SimonC, John's art gallery is awesome indeed. My favourite is the Dali painting with Future Clock, Nostradamus Clock, Moonspinner and Mystery Triangle in it. So clever. Ah, and Funnel Vision. I probably missed something. By the way, I'm not sure if a question like this belongs here, but I'm try...

Re: May I introduce myself?

Here's something fun to get you started.. Thanks, SimonC, I can't think of a better way to get started. Those film poster spoofs are clearly a labour of love and really, really, REALLY funny. Such clever wordplay and fabulous graphics. I laughed especially hard about "The Third Eye" and "Alfred Hit...

May I introduce myself?

Hello everyone! I'm a 46-year-old author from Berlin, Germany, and I've been intrigued with magic ever since my childhood. When in my early teens, I was poring over magic catalogues and the vivid descriptions of Tenyo effects. Those were the early 1980's, the days of "Eclipse", "Ribbon Forever" and ...
