Re: CUBE THROUGH WAND

Rob, in the video of the smaller version, it is rather easy to see the recess in the bottom that accepts the middle section of the wand after the block has been pushed down. Not sure if laypeople will think much about it, but I suppose it would be best if they watch from about eye level or that the ...

Re: Magic Wagon - Utopia Prediction Box

It works basically the same as Wayne Dobson's Add-ict, produced by Mark Mason :) The 'suspicious' move is only suspicious for other magicians or the clever spectators. In that case, I'd say the advertised description is somewhat misleading, or at least lacking. After having read the description, I ...

Re: Lubor's Gift - An Alternative Parabox?

They are the same trick, yes. Just (very) different sizes. Lubor's gift is made of cardboard (as far as I can tell, I don't own it), which may cause you issues when trying to compress large sponge balls. I'd imagine it would create suspicious bulges, or even ruptures to the cardboard.

Re: Year 25 in magic. Month 1 in Tenyo

Welcome to the forum, Ron! Your story is very interesting (especially the recent change from gimmick allergy to near obsession), and I think you will enjoy it in here. We have quite a few magic creators in here, and once you become a full member, you will gain access to many interesting threads, I p...

Re: Reverso O Boxes

Yesterday, Olaf S published a nice video featuring these boxes:

It would seem that either these boxes has an additional feature that I am not aware of, or Olaf S made something extra himself, but no matter what, a very nice performance!

Re: T-187 Mini-Morphosis

So the sound issue is the weakest point of this trick, then? I wonder if I should try to make my own version with less sound... I must however admit that there is one aspect of the original that I don't really understand, and that's how precisely the inside ball ends up centered on the lid after the...

Re: T-187 Mini-Morphosis

Completely replacing the sound with music is cheating, you know. :-) Well, all magic is cheating one way or the other Anyone who knows this trick knows there's a noise ! Would have been glad to get a more positive comment It wasn't meant as a negative comment, I'm sure you saw the smiley at the end...

Re: The diamond sphere

Looks like a nice trick, although perhaps a tiny bit boring, at least without any presentation. I can guess at how it works, but I may have missed something, as it looks perhaps a bit obvious?

Making a version using 3D-printing is most likely possible, I'd say.

Re: Reverso O Boxes

I share your thoughts, and the boxes look very nice, but as usual the images are tiny, which is annoying. I am also not sure about which effects can be achieved with this. One possibility is briefly described in the ad, but it is also stated that there are many. In the end, this is too expensive for...

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

As I said over at the other forum, nice video, but the size of the box compared to the bolt is a bit unnatural in my opinion. But the mechanism clearly works smoothly and operation of it is easily hidden. But you can't show the box from all sides, I guess.

I'm working on my own version...

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

In the original Massey effect I've been told that the candle was lit, but not sure in which sequence. I'm guessing the perfomer would light the full candle after the initial installation in the device, and after inserting the blades and showing the candle to be split, it would no longer be lit (as p...

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

He still has one left, but for me it's just too much money. I've been thinking about making my own version, but with a twist: One single opening so that both blades can be seen clearly, not three separated openings where the horizontal sections hides the blades. I think this might look quite cool, b...

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

Rob, when you receive your copy, could you please make a video of it? I'm really curious about the effect, but it was just too much money in my opinion.

I also believe it most likely works pretty much the same as the original effect, only it's a lot smaller and uses a bolt instead of a candle.

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

They just went live with it:

http://www.magic-wagon.com/ProductDetail.asp?id=182

Price is $399.95, which is way more money than I am willing to spend, even if it looks very nice. The trick itself doesn't look all that impressive, there is just too much space all around, if you know what I mean.

Re: Magic Wagon - Perplexing Bolt

Seems there will not be many copies available, so I'm guessing this may sell out in a flash. Since the description also says this is due to the amount of work involved, it will probably be very expensive, perhaps around $350? Interesting trick that I hadn't heard of before (the Massey original of th...

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes

There's no ridge left after the routing operation, because due to how the box was constructed I could remove the ridge with a small chisel. Every copy had been tested, so mine probably just slipped through the cracks. I'm a nice guy (I hope), so I don't feel I have to demand new parts, since I was a...

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes

To make sure no one misunderstands this: Tony Curtis was more than willing to rectify the situation by sending me new parts. The issue was to do with tolerances, and the fix was to mill away a tiny amount of wood from the inside bottom of the small wooden box. I 3D printed a sleeve/insert to both ac...

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes

I guess it was luck that the (probably) one person that received a faulty copy was me, since I have a lot of tools and some skills to use them.

And I even used 3D printing in the process of fixing it. :-)
