Re: Tenyo magic catalogs and routines ('Competition Winners'

Very interesting. I don't have any of the old catalogs so I did not know about that.
It seems like a good idea. I wonder why they stopped it?
What there any prize for the competition winner or was having it published the prize?

Re: Mystery China Box - Star Wars Edition

That's really great! Would have never thought to use Mystery China Box as an Empire death machine. I love the whole presentation. I think one other thing you can do is perhaps have some other hapless fellow get squashed in the machine before having a go on Luke. Isn't that what always happens in the...

Re: T-197 X-Ray File

I agree. It really needs a more interesting routine other than simply guessing the cards. The gimmick is very clever. The problem I have with this trick is that whenever i do it people want to see the back of the stand. And once they the back they want to see what is behind door number 1.

Re: T-251 Flying Carpet

I know no one believes it as a levitation effect but I still present it that way just for fun. It gets people interested when I show the words "flying carpet" on it. I also tell them that last time I did the trick the carpet flew up and hit someone in the eye so it would be better if they where thes...

Re: Tenyo Magical Calendar

They are both very good.I'm not sure why but I think I like Burger better. Maybe because it has the 3 variations and it's kind of fun for the spectator to make their own burger. ;) Calendar is easier to perform though and therefore I probably use it more. It doesn't fool magicians or anyone who is f...

Re: T-251 Flying Carpet

My kids really like this one so I do it pretty often. I always get one of 3 reactions: 1. Wow! That really cool! 2. Big Deal. It's just 3D glasses 3. What am I supposed to be looking at? Reaction #3 is from a number of people I've encountered that just can't see the effect for some reason. I make a ...

Re: T-179 Trisector

We had a similar problem in my office. We routinely make copies of checks. We got a new copier a while back and it prints a black page if you try to copy a check (or currency). I found that if I reduce it in size to 60% it will copy which is good enough for us but not good enough for Midas Machine. ...

Re: Collecting Milton Bradley"s Magic Works.

Thanks for the info. The one I have seems to work fine but I'll look out for another one just in case. I like your collection Elliot, especially the magic sets. Thanks Bob. One of these days I'll get an actual display cabinet but for now that's all I have room for. I managed to stuff everything in b...

Re: Collecting Milton Bradley"s Magic Works.

Yes. I'm not sure which one I like better. Vault Vision sort of lets on that the box is doing the trick while Money Game makes it look more like a toy. Probably some other design would have been better. By the way there is a page on Angelo Carbone's Tenyo site that highlights all the differences bet...

Re: Collecting Milton Bradley"s Magic Works.

I have a nice collection as well. I think I am only missing 4 of them (Vault Vision, Soft Coins, Mystery Dice, and Clean Cut). I'll probably get them eventually but since I have the Tenyo versions I am in no rush. In general I prefer the Tenyo versions over the Magic Works versions where there is a ...

Yes very good job Simon.
You definitively had me fooled early although I did figure it out eventually when things started getting ridiculous.
Standing on my head while reading Mr. Luf's name confirmed it :)

Re: Tenyo tricks with locking mechanism

I would add Infinitum and Super Phanto Block.
Both of those stump spectators completely.

Another one I have is the Disney Light up Mickey:

The locking Mechanism is nicely camouflaged on that one.

Re: T-179 Trisector

I doubt it. Tenyo has a link to this forum on their official web site. They specifically complement John on his add-ons as well. I think most magic creators appreciate creativity. I think they enjoy when someone uses their product in a new and interesting way. In fact Tenyo posts new routines create...

Re: Collector`s behaviour ?

I guess I am 'e' as well.
I have to open the tricks to see how they work. I open it, give it a couple of tries and then store it away.
I'll buy doubles once in a while if I get a good deal or if I feel a certain trick is prone to breaking.

Re: T-092 Pendant

By the Way Jay Sankey has an effect called Leaving Home which is basically the same trick using a key but without the envelope. It uses a sleight to achieve the same results as the envelope. I think it is more impressive but of course will take much more practice than the Tenyo version.

Re: T-092 Pendant

I think I like the Disney version of this better. The envelope is much smaller and to me less suspicious. I remember when i finally got the original how surprised I was at how big the envelope was although it does hide the "gimmick" better. The Mickey version also has that bonus routine where the pe...

Re: T-130 Tricky Business

I like Tricky Business but it uses a similar method to Midas Machine and Mobile Illusion and I like both of those tricks better. I like Midas Machine better because of the visual gradual transformation that happens right in front of the spectators eyes. And I like Mobile Illusion better I guess beca...

Nope. Zone Infinity is also readily available in Japan. Tokyo Hobby even has some for sale on Ebay.
I think once they are discontinued they are done. Although it seems that once in a while they have brought back some old tricks in Disney versions. Mirror Mate for instance.

Re: Magicians finger

The gold finger is actually only half a finger glued down to the bottom of the case. Not sure if it is metal or painted plastic though. The video pretty much shows what it is. Maybe someone could come up with an interesting routine for this, but in the meantime I have to say this is one of my least ...
