Re: T-141 Mini-Zag

Roberto's video shows an interesting way of doing it, but I don't think a spectator would be satisfied by only pulling out the card such a small amount. I've always done it palm up and pulled the center out more than halfway and it elicits real shock.

I've always thought that this is one of Sugawara's best creations and have performed it many times myself.

Re: I am Going to Share a Secret with You

For "Alchemy" the original ball was just gold plated, however the plating wears off quickly if you perform the trick a lot. They began including solid brass balls when the first run had sold out. Evan, sorry that you got a hanky from the first batch. It might be stock that Hitomi had on hand, or old...

Re: Tenyo Non-Magic Items

It is REALLY difficult to find any of the original Double World boxes from Tenyo. I don't have any, nor do I know anyone in Japan (except Tenyo) who has them.

I'm pretty sure the Star Wars one was just a licensing deal and that it was made in China.

The Dracula Bank is a magic trick. The coins vanish even though you can see completely inside. Same thing with Art Bank.

Re: Mickey/Disney Tenyo

This new version was designed so kids can do it, just like the other new trick with the crayons and cardboard drawer box. The T-numbered version of Rising Card, which is actually a Devano deck, makes several changes to Devano's original mechanics that are not for the better even if they make the tri...

They changed the type of ball used in "Magical Alchemy" a month or two after it was on the market.

Re: T-160 Fantastica

There are some excellent routines for "Fantastica" in Tenyoism. Angelo Carbone's Shrinking Card is quite good. I think the prop is better than people give it credit for. I do it for folks all the time at home.

This item has been sold in joke shops and in magic sets for half a century.

It was included in Mysto Magic sets in the 1930s.

It's a great illusion, but it's old.

I really can't write anything else, but you should be pleased.
This was, by the way, the best-selling trick of the 2016 line in Japan.

Re: I am Going to Share a Secret with You

You have to buy from someone who will have just bought stock from a store in Japan in the last three or four months. Like Hitomi on eBay.

I am Going to Share a Secret with You

I can only say this: if you bought "Ghost Camera" when it was first released, you should buy a new one now.

Don't ask me any questions. But you'll definitely perform the trick more often.

Re: Someone Bought A Really Special Tenyo for Close to Nothi

Must admit that I bought it. I already had one and would not have bought this one except that the price was so low I couldn't believe it. Also, it has the "opposite" color combination of Coin Case than any of the others I have, so I must keep it. Have never seen any other examples of this set beside...

Re: The world of collecting older Tenyo.

It is simply a matter of items which sold well, which items which sold poorly, and which items which have been rerun a number of times. You'll always be able to find "Golden Fleece" on the card because everyone thinks it's a lousy trick. But it's actually a great trick and worth owning and doing.

The creator of the Baby Shoe trick is Chris Kenner, there's no doubt.
There's also no doubt that no one, to the best of my knowledge, has been given permission to sell it.
Tenyo is/was simply buying them from Bazar de Magia.

There's a bunch of AR cards in the iMagic set put out by Marvin's magic last year. Lots of good AR magic in there, too, with physical props.

Hello from Richard Kaufman

I have a confession to make: I am not "Jimmy Z," but actually Richard Kaufman. Jimmy Z is an alias I used with the permission of a good friend of mine (and who registered on my behalf)--he is a magic collector and was the best man at my wedding. Not feeling that I would be able to join under my real...

The original prototype by Komiya did not have a playing card--that was added later in the development process.

The Freaky Body Illusions magic set is by Marvin's Magic.

Simon, Holografx sucks up a huge amount of data in order to work. Using it for even a half hour could exceed your monthly max for data on your cell phone. Examine before using.

What is being described on that video is a Pepper's Ghost effect: it's merely a reflection.
No actual hologram is being produced.

Re: Pencil for Occult Board

That's why they're called "grease pencils" as well as "China Markers." It's a pity Tenyo doesn't put out a new version of Hen Fetsch's "Mental Epic" using a dry erase board and dry erase markers. One of the problems with that, however, is that laymen know full well you can erase something with your ...
