Bare Bones variations

Post by SimonC » Tue Apr 28, 2015 5:28 pm

Good evening all, I was having a chat with member of the forum about Bare bones and they asked if I could re-make the tube in wood. What they were after was a coffin to give the trick a more creepy feel and storyline. Whilst drawing up some ideas for the coffin I had another idea...
Barbara Bones is in a three parts, which led me on to the stage illusion Zig-Zag lady. I drew up the classic front design and it all lined up well with the dimensions of the tube. To finish with I couldn't resist making some mini aluminium blades to have in place at the start of the trick. So the story goes there was a magician who accidentally killed his assistant whilst performing the zig zag lady (pull out blades and reveal skeleton) he kept getting his tricks all wrong (tube turned upside down, skeleton out of order etc.) and you get your audience to help cast a spell to bring her back to life (final reveal)
Here are some pics of the two versions, I think the zigzag lady will be my default performance now :)

This is awesome Simon...I love the zig zag version but the coffin looks cool too. Unfortunately I have only the bare bones Mickey Mouse version which didn't fit to the theme. I need to look at my mickey's version if i can make some modification on this version. Thanks for sharing another great work Simon and another applause !!. ;)

This is just brilliant Simon! And this is what it is all about ... raising Tenyo tricks to a higher level, combining several ideas into new approaches, making much better story lines...

This is something I haven't seen before, the combination of the 3 blocks and the zig zag lady with the blades...

There is no zig zag sideways?

Wow! Those are really great! I especially love the Zig Zag Lady routine. It really does bring the trick to a whole other level.

I was thinking to change all sides of my "Mickey Mouse Bare Bones" cubes using stickers so I can do the original Bare Bones Routine. I`ve checked my Mickey Mouse version. The gimmick will not fit to do the transformation like bare bones. The cubes are not really symmetrical all sides and the gimmick will stuck if I make the "move" :(

By the way, I sent Simon a PM, he sent a PM back but I didn't get a notification mail ... It was just by coincidence that I discovered his answer. Just wanted to let you know, in case you expect a PM :)
Is that part of the messing up from JohnM? :(

Because the Quote option is missing, I refer to Victor's remark about the Winnie the Pooh Cubes and the problem of the gimmick that gets sticked, I have the solution... But this is only possible for those who own 2 sets of Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse version.

Every cube consists of 2 parts, and you can easily take them apart. Disassemble all 6 Cubes. Reassemble them by only using the bottom parts who have no plastic that sticks out. I tried it and it works! Then you can think about an own design. The stickers are fairly easy removable.
