'The World of Scarves'

Post by Brett H » Wed Jun 10, 2015 6:39 pm

Because 'The World of handkerchiefs' sounds goofy.

I'm trying to compile a list of all the Tenyo that utilize a handkerchief of some sort

Trap Box (2nd effect)
Burglar Ball
Crystal Box
Handkerchief Penetration/Hanky Panky
Shrinking Pen
Ghost Lamp
Magic Butterfly
Phantoma
Mystery Poodle
Crystal Pyramid
Shrinking Pen
Illusion Truck
Ballerina Hank
Brass Bill Tube

I'm sure I've missed a few.

I do have a few questions:

BALLERINA HANK:
1) is the handkerchief similar to a glorpy?
2) can it be transferred to another handkerchief?
3) if so, what are the best hankys to use for it?

ILLUSION TRUCK:
I haven't heard anything about this one.
1) is this a trick worth acquiring for performances? Or is it more a collectors piece?

Ballerina Hank is not at all like Glorpy.
The gimmick cannot be moved from the silk to which it is attached.

The Ballerina Hank that I have comes with a plain red silk that attaches to the gimmick. You can really use any silk you want. It is pretty easy to attach and detach.

Not a big fan of Illusion Truck personally although I think others like it more. To me it is too toyish and I found it very easy to guess how it works. May be cute for younger kids though. Although they will probably want to examine it which cannot be done.

Other "Scarve" tricks I can think of offhand:

Penetro Coin
Invisible Man
Coin in Nest
Color Changing Silks
Chameleon Silks
Rainbow Silk
Silk from Hanky
Silk Serenade
Color Changing Flower
Salt Cups
Impossible Pen (Alternate Handling)

Yeah, I'm a bit shaky on trying to track down an Illusion Truck. I'm trying to figure out how to make the magic happen by a kid. And 'Truck is making it tough!

I actually have an Impossible Pen that I still have in the box! I'm unsure whether I should trade it or keep it. But this alternate handling has me more inclined to open it.

How does the alternate handling go?

You can find the alternate handling here:

There used to be a video of this handling on Youtube but it was gone last time I looked.

All right. You got me. I'll open the Impossible Pen box and see if I can make a video of the alternate handling--just to get it out there.

Thank for for the link!

That's a helluva lot better than I thought could be done. Even knowing how everything works, the 'moves' in that video are almost undetectable.

But man, that alternate handling. Looks so much better with just the pen and the case.

Watch it carefully: I think there's an edit in there when his hands wave over the top of the pen.

Nah, no edit. He's just releasing the pen and very quickly waves the hands. Excellent performance if you ask me!
