Tenyo Astro Tube and Mikame Dream Tunnel

Post by VictorS » Thu Feb 05, 2015 10:19 pm

Hi guys,

Looking at the effect and prop of the Tenyo Astro Tube http://funstuffonly.com/tenyo/t041-t060/#t042, it seems very2 similar effect with the Mikame Dream Tunnel http://www.seomagic-usa.com/catalog/pro ... cts_id/325

Beside the price difference, has anyone compared the construction of both tubes or maybe other differences between both of them ?

Thanks guys.

Vic

I only have Dream Tunnel which works great. Astro Tube is the same (besides the extra papers of course), but I can't compare the quality.

Thanks David....if Astro Tube is extremely expensive nowadays, must be something special on it.

Yes, it's Tenyo and for some this means it has sentimental value, nothing more (besides the papers which you can make yourself) :)

astrotube-dreamtunnel.JPG
Dream Tunnel is on the top and Astro Tube on the bottom.

They are made the same but there is a difference in size and material.

The Dream Tunnel is a rough cardboard where the Astro Tube seems to be a coated cardboard.

Astro Tube is one of the Tenyo tricks that is truly scarce so that is why it costs so much. They rarely come up for sale.

I have a extra Astro Tube if anyone wants to part with several hundred dollars.

Thanks a lot John for the comparison and complete explanation. Seems that I`m not rich enough at the moment to buy the Tenyo version. Maybe someday :) Well the Mikame version looks really nice too.

I don't have either but I think the Dream Tunnel is better looking and might be a little more durable.
For sure is a much better deal, easy to get and is very cheap price. :)

I just received Dream Tunnel, only 13 euro, and it is a very nice piece of magic, especially because you can switch items twice. Of course the items must be flat like bills or silks. My only concern is the durability.

I'm pretty sure durability issue is not better with Astro Tube that is why it is so rare as they ripped soon after used a while. I don't have one so just speculating neither is very durable but cheap enough to replace Dream Tunnel many times and not go broke. :)

Just an additional information on this thread on what I can get from the Tricks catalog. I assumed this was the 1st dream tunnel design by Yonezo Mikame and the newer version came with the arrow design on it.

But my next question will be: who was the inventor for Astro Tube ? Also Mikame himself or any other person ? The inventor`s name could be written in the instruction but I never see it. Maybe our JohnM have the answer for this ;) Thanks in advance.

I like the old artwork better.

There is no mention of an inventor or any history in the Astro Tube instructions.

Tenyo was not very good at providing credit on their early tricks which were almost all invented by someone other than them.

In fact they were selling T-33 Coin and Glass very soon after it was invented by Lubor Fiedler with no credit or compensation provided to him when he really could have used it. I read about this in the Genii cover article about Lubor last year.

Nice to know about it John. I never know that the T-33 was invented by Mr. Fiedler. Thanks so much again for sharing the information. Yes I like the old artwork better too,it looks sexier than the newer one ;)

I also like the original design, I think it opens up the possibility of a story for the trick, much more mysterious.
Now you see me...

SO, I just got the dream tunnel myself today, it did not come with instructions, although I do have an idea how it works, but does anyone have a copy of the tenyo instructions so I might be able to replicate a routine or whatever is on them?
