Tenyo Catalogs
Tenyo Catalogs
Is anyone else out there collecting these. It seems like most people don't.
I need the following if anyone has any to sell or trade.
1972, 1974, 1978, 1984, 2008, 2009

Re: Tenyo Catalogs
Was there ever a 1984 one? I know it was the year that never was in tenyo land. I'll have a look on eBay uk, there's often catalogues coming up.
Now you see me...
Re: Tenyo Catalogs
You may be correct about the 1984 catalog.
On the Tenyo Blog it only shows what is called a Best Selection catalog.

Awesome photo John!!!
Re: Tenyo Catalogs
I was just looking through the 1985 Tenyo catalog and there is something in there that is very interesting.
I remember seeing this before when looking through my catalogs and I am not sure but this ad may have only been in this catalog. Each year just the cover, the first few pages showing the new tricks, and a couple of pages with articles are unique, the rest are pages are of the older tricks that they reprinted over and over again.
Anyway, where are these Spanish language Tenyo? I have never seen a Spanish Tenyo package, have you? Maybe there were never released.

Re: Tenyo Catalogs
WOW....very interesting....I have never seen one of these.
Some of the translations are very funny....for example:
Quicksilver: La Fabrica de Monedas = The Coin Factory.
Ultraslice: Corte Imposible = Impossible Cut.
Dynamic Coin: Moneda Fantasma = Ghost Coin.
The Midas Machine: La Imprenta del Griego = The Greek Press.
.....
and the best one:
Glass Board: La Ventana Indiscreta = The Indiscrete Window (La Ventana Indiscreta refers to the Hitchcock classic "Rear Window".....because this was the name for this film in the Spanish language market (at least in South America))......funny name for a magic trick.

Here is a video of "La Fabrica de Monedas". Does that mean that they really did exist?

I just came back to re-read this thread in light of Botonds exciting find.gazpratley wrote:WOW that is Awesome, imagine having 1 or 2 of those babies!! they would be PRICELESS! id love to own one of those bad boys. so john do you think they were aimed at the mexican market or the European Spanish market?
I think what we can do is match up the currency in the picture to see if it is Spanish, Mexican or another.
When I get a chance I will take a better picture of the catalog page so we can try and do that.
Re: Tenyo Catalogs
I just took a look and the money used in the package design for the Dinero Indestructible (Frame of Destruction) says Banco De Espana, so the market for these was for sure Spain.
