Block,Ring and Cord. This dates from the 1920s and was made in Germany but the cord is new,The performer borrows a ring from a spectator and made to vanish.A wooden block is brought to the table and a length of cord, the magician places the cord through the hole in the block ,the spectator holds each end of the cord, the magician covers the block with a silk and in an instance the cord penetrates the block and the ring is found on the cord :D

This is still for sale unde the name Indian Die. See here: http://www.zauber-butike.de/epages/Shop ... ucts/77301

I once owned it but sold it. It's very clever however I didn't like it that much ... too difficult to perform convincing for/by me ;) But ... that's just me :D

Funny thing is Pete the one I had was also without a wand. I sold it a year or two ago. Perhaps you now have my version, it sure looks like it ;)

This effect has me very interested. Do you think it is the same as this one that recently sold on eBay. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 1534932846

Reading the EBay description of the trick it sounds unbelievable! They mention it can be performed without cover!!! I cannot find any information on this trick and would be very curious to see a video or any more information. The link above to your version mentions that it is performed under the cover of a silk and with that information I assume the two effects have different mechanisms?

Does anyone have more information on the EBay version?

If that trick indeed works like the add sais it sounds really magical! The seller does say it can be done 'fairly' close up, which probably means there are some angle restrictions.
I think this is the kind of trick that when you see a video of it isn't THAT magical, but I could be wrong :)
I can't find any usefull information about this item either ... . Perhaps Abbott's magic has more info?

Thinking about it the one i have could be done without a silk if you turned it upside down but you would have to watch the angles and a little hand cover :D
