Tut's Tunnel

Post by Simon Layland » Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:59 am

I have seen a trick called Tut's tunnel in EBay which has a really nice look it, at first glance I thought it was a copy of Ultra tube but the trick is different.
Check it out and let us know if you have one, how good it is and if its worth the $150.

EBay USA item number 252014141115

Be Part of the Pyramid -
Tut's Tunnel!
A new series of handcrafted and precision made die tunnels crafted in red oak are currently available from the Workshop of Avid Imagination. A Magical Miracle brought up to date with the aid of modern technology. The "Tut's Tunnel" Okie Dokie series will be sold on a first come basis, only 20 have been (similar to the Milson-Worth Mephisto Dice Tube, only updated with today's technology!) The quality is equal to magic effects once build by P&L (Petrie-Lewis), Thayer, Berg, Merv Taylor, Mikame, Tenyo, Abbotts, Grant, Tannens, Kanter, etc.

Here is an overview of the effect...The tunnel is shown empty and placed upright on the performers presentation area. Three dice are shown, two ruby red and one white. The two red dice are placed into Tut's Tunnel then lastly the white. When the tunnel is raised, the white die penetrates the the 2 red dice and is found to be on the bottom of the stack. As the routine continues the white die will be seen in the center of the two red die. A well written routine enhances the imagination of your audience.

This effect has been crafted for the professional and will become a very desirable collectible item. Each "Tut's Tunnel" is numbered and provided with a carrying draw-string pouch, special die carrying containers along with an ownership certificate bearing the purchasers name, date of purchase, unit number and a set of well written and edited performing instructions and dialog,

Only Twenty "Tut's Tunnels" are available. What number do you want to be?

This is really an extremely well made item!

It looks very familiar to Eddy Taytelbaum's Dice Elevator! But it says it's similar to Milson-Worth Mephisto Dice Tube. I don't know the difference between Milson-Worths effect and Taytelbaum's.

Luckily, I own a very well made wooden version of Dice elevator, made by our member Mago :)

This is a great effect, and Tenyolovers will love this too I believe!

I think this goes back to a similar trick using beads. It was in an old magic set I bought as a kid (made by Jumbo and distributed in Europe). I also own a version made by Eckhardt Boettcher (the guy who owned Zauberbutike).
This is what I mean: https://www.discountmagic.co.uk/product ... ts_id/2904.
Check out a performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=206q2NreoW0
It's a pretty cool trick, but not 100% self working. Not hard to do, but you'll need to get the routine down, which isn't hard at all.
I think 170 USD is A LOT for what you get. Don't expect a gimmick a la Ultra Tube!

So, if it is the same as the bead trick, which I think it is, why not buy the 1 GBP version first, see if you like it, and if you do you can always buy the (very) expensive wooden version with dice.

Oh and Francois Danis also makes a fantastic looking version of the trick:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qiFg6FVnYY or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y57FYL_71H4 - you can always contact him about it too, and perhaps it is even cheaper then the 170 USD :)
