Dynamic Coins Patent

Post by kellebotond » Thu May 29, 2014 1:31 pm

I tought that Dynamic Coins were an original Tenyo invention. It seems it was invented by Frank Renz in the US in 1947.

The idea of the gimmicked cap is very old. Nickels to Dimes was the most common trick to use this gimmick and it predated Dynamic Coins by quite a while. Tenyo just took the idea and added a second cap thereby being able to have the coins disappear and appear under either cap, as well as penetrations, etc.
You can view the development story for this here:

Actually according to Magicpedia, Nickels to Dimes was invented in 1926 by Walter Gibson so I am not sure what new addition Frank renz patented in 1947.

Thanks for the info. So Tenyo's development was basically to add another cup.

The addition here at the patent is the ring to be able to be able to reproduce the coins and the real movable coin on the top of the stack as far as I can understand.
