CUBE THROUGH WAND

Recently I obtained a very rare effect: a huge cube penetrates a wand.

I have made a video of this effect, watch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN3u7CFtg4Q

There is an amazing 'gimmick' involved which really was a big surprise to me when I received this item.

It has some similarities with my previous video CUBAN RELEASE.

It is made in Holland by a very clever magic apparatus builder known as Rebru. I don't know anything about him actually. He also made the Cuban release, where he combined version 1 and 2 and where he improved it huge.

I just wonder if there is anyone on this forum who has ever seen Cube through Wand before, in an old magic book perhaps?

That's a wonderful performance and I totally don't know how this works.
Brilliant prop.

Very cool! I have never seen this before.

I'm guessing that since the cube is as wide as the inside of the wand (that portion which is between the silver wand tips) so when the cube is pushed through the wand the middle of the wand magnetically attaches itself to the bottom of the cube, or box, and the two tips of the wand (which are held in place) magnetically re-attach to a 2nd wand which was already inside the cube. (The middle, and the two tips, attach as the magi pushes all three to one side.)

I have no real idea, but I love penetration effects like this.

Very clever thinking Bob :) I don't want to go into detail, but your explanation is spot on.
What this item makes a winner, is the care of details and the great craftsmanship.
Is this something for Tenyo, to make a mini version of it? Oh yes it is :)
But I don't think they will be interested.

Great presentation and it is really a nice prop Rob. I love your expression during the performance too. Very2 funny and entertaining :) I have some assumptions on how it works but I choose to be fooled by the trick !! :)

I think maybe Magic Wagon could make a micro versión?

Yes Roberto, Magic Wagon could make a killer mini version of it! With a special theme, an evil spirit crashes a golden magic staff with a stone block, but the sorcerer is able to restore it. For instance.

And thank you Victor for liking my facial expressions. Because I prefer to do tricks on YouTube without speech, my non verbal expressions must do the work.

Without Bob's attempt to figure it out I would still be unaware of the workings. Nonetheless if he is correct the wand can not be examined of course, but you should be able to switch that out for another one with a micro version :)
Magic Wagon could make a great version, and if they aren't willing to you can always ask another manufacturer like Viking, Dave Powell, Francois Danis or even our own Simon of course :)
It shouldn't be THAT difficult to produce ... .

I too love penetration effects and own a small collection of such effects.
Rob, would you be so kind as to send this one to me free of charge? :-)

Just kissing of course ....unless you want to. ;-)

Rob,
After I posted, I wished I hadn't. I really had no idea how it worked, but then I thought "what if I'm close."
I guess I was thinking out loud, and then posted what I thought if I were to build it. SORRY! :(
(no, I wouldn't ever have the time, or necessary tools, to build it)

Like Victor, I would rather enjoy the effect as is.
I guess when I see great effects, I have a tendency to think "how was it done?"

Maybe Simon will see this thread and take an interest in it.

It would be very cool if the three final pieces while still being magnetic had enough REVERSE THREADS to lock the Wand (wrong way thread) so the Wand could be given a backwards "twist" to lock it? It could then be inspected.

By the way, because of a stupid coincidence I own 2 copies of Cube Through Wand. Probably the last 2 ones in the world :)
If anyone is interested I can sell one. Please keep in mind that it weighs 2,7 Kg.

You can PM if interested. The item goes to the highest bidder :)

Here is another Cube through wand but much smaller, I tried to buy one from the German website and I'm waiting for a reply.
(Hope they speak English)
They are only 50 euro.

Ha! I have this one, even made a video of it on my YouTube channel.
But it is a well known principle...

It is well-made however!

Although there is a different handling.
At the big Cube through wand you insert the wand first and then you place the cube on top of it and push it through the wand, at the end the wand runs through the cube.
In the MW version you place the block inside the frame, place the wand through the hole in the block, and then you push the block through the wand.
Anyway, my order is placed!

I also like this penetration very much, unfortunately a bit too big ... *lol
I'm still thinking about how it all works although I know the basics, just very cool
Another trick that I would wish for in a smaller version, the open upper part is great

I suppose a 3D-printed version using this theme could be made. Hmm...

Update : I sold this trick to Joe Long years ago. He was able to produce a smaller version, in his Ltd Edition Magic range.

Recently I was able to buy a copy of this smaller version, which I like a lot. I made a video of it:

https://youtu.be/-VBRhO20iLw

I traded my 2nd copy with a very talented guy who makes magic items professionally, Frans Reijnier. He is busy with his own company, hollandmagicstudio.nl.

He made 2 versions of it, a large one and a mini version.

If you're interested to buy one, you can contact him by email : info@hollandmagicstudio.nl

I've seen these versions in persons, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. He is a member of this forum, but didn't yet post anything... He's fascinated by Tenyo now, and is busy to collect the gems.

Øyvind, it would be fantastic if you could make a 3Dprinted version... I look forward to what will come up from your creative mind :)

Rob, in the video of the smaller version, it is rather easy to see the recess in the bottom that accepts the middle section of the wand after the block has been pushed down. Not sure if laypeople will think much about it, but I suppose it would be best if they watch from about eye level or that the prop is slightly above eye level.

I'll ponder a bit on this, and if I can come up with a design I like, I may end up making my own version. Which of course will be considerably smaller. :D

Yes Øyvind I must admit that the recess in the bottom is a weak point in this version, it's a bit sloppy made...
But with a more clever design you could overcome this weakness...

Hmm, i have not seen this so clear in the video but i noticed the left silver end was moved
All in all i find this version not bad - only a little too big in size - i like this trick principle
