Magic schools

That idea of a joke about magic being taught as a class at school could be something that could be done seriously. Think of it like this. Students pay for tuition which includes school supplies, which in this case would be the Tenyo tricks. I looked at the moderators; and unfortunately, there's only one that doesn't live overseas; and that's John Mazza. With each trick students get a quiz or test on how well they can perform each trick. That would mean don't just do it to fool people, but use patter as well, and practice the trick so it can be done fluently. As a final exam, the students put on a magic show with all the tricks.

I wasn't saying that it's bad that he's here in the United States instead of overseas, just that I wish there more; and Simon's the one who said he worked as a teacher.

Well. For all intents and purposes, there's the Jeff McBride Mystery School. Which is like to do one day (the full-on stay there and learn course).

If you really want to improve Magic presentation, I'd look up a book (more like a manual) called 'Boffo' by Christopher Thisse. That guy is all about the theatrical side of magic and presentation end of things.

Aside from that, all I can recommend is writing books...maybe workshops.

I did open-mic comedy in Las Vegas for a few years and read a few books (I have to remember which ones) that dealt with writing better routines and the nuts and bolts that make a good routine.

Jeff McBride sounds familiar, but I'd have to see a video of him to see if I remember him. Would I get graded on magical performances? That's what I want. Take the tricks 4-Dimensional Trunk and Crazy Spots. I have practiced them and feel I got them down pat. I'm sure they wouldn't fool Penn and Teller, but they're still pretty good tricks. Would it be possible to do them for someone and get a grade?

Jason, maybe you can make a youtube video of yourself performing these and post the link on here.

I wish I could do that, but the only thing I have to do internet with at home is a mobile phone. Another trick I could do that I like really well is Animal Hunter.
