Here is a good video showing 15 quality stage illusions in 5 minutes. Performed live, no editing.

Yes Hans Klok is amazing, I've seen his last 2 shows, but... even these illusions become... boring at the end. A lot of mini-morphoses.
The problem is that it doesn't touch you. after Hans Klok I saw Christian Farla live... With some great mentalism effects.. I still remember these, and I forgot most of what Hans Klok performed.

Rob has Tenyo on his mind I think he meant MetaMorphosis.

Maybe one of us should make a video where we perform 15 Tenyo in 5 minutes. The only rule is you can only perform MiniMorphosis once not over and over again like Hans did with MetaMorphosis in his video.

Excellent idea, John! This is a great way to showcase our Tenyo pieces. My next project is to build up an eight to ten minute act using as many Tenyo pieces as I can.

I do not know who originated this concept but the very first magicians I saw with this type of presentation are The Napoleons. These two Japanese comedy magicians were famous during the eighties. Their act features several Tenyo items.

Great video Bob thanks for sharing. It is great to see stage magician's using a Tenyo here and there.

Fifteen Tenyo in five minutes gives twenty seconds per trick. Certainly can be done but there would be some rushing and maybe not enough time to do some of the tricks properly.

Should we make it ten Tenyo in five minutes which gives thirty seconds per Tenyo or stick with the fifteen?

I just sat at my magicupboard and considered a 15 trick routine. I may have to bow out of this one as I would get lost in a sea if paper trying to work out a seamless routine and I simply don't have the energy!
perhaps we could brainstorm a 15-trick routine and someone here could record it as a YouTube promo for the forum?
so far I thought..

eclipse making a coin appear that is pierced by zone infinity.
coin changed to ring (somehow)
trap box to prison box to crystal cleaver
magic magic magic
illusionarium (with queen) to puzzling queen to bioshock
card case change of card to bill...
Trisector to knife of the ninja to billscape
umm...
clean cut to rope to silk to egg
possibly end with (repro) spring flowers
Now you see me...

I think Paul Daniels did this before them in one of his TV shows.

I think 15 is too many. I think it should be any number more than a few that makes sense.

I have been working on a multi trick routine as well. It is a lot of work. I have Tenyo tricks and props scattered all over my desk.

I am using excel to work on my routine. I first come up with a list of possible tricks and then I list them in Excel and then I can move them around to see what works in what order and move out what does not work.

My idea is a signed coin (hint: 5 yen) moving through a string of Tenyo tricks. Since it is a signed coin, a lot of Tenyo coin tricks are not suitable and it has been hard to come up with a lot that will work. Right now I have eight tricks but no sure if I like all eight. For sure they are all not typical coin tricks.

If you are looking to do something similar there are two pages on the sister website that can be of assistance.

One page lists the Tenyo tricks sorted by prop/material type. http://funstuffonly.com/tenyo/performin ... d-by-prop/

The other page lists Tenyo tricks sorted by effect. http://funstuffonly.com/tenyo/performin ... by-effect/

You can get started on either page to arrive at a theme but I recommend looking at all of the tricks as well.

there's so much scope to do a really nice routine, almost too much for me!
I love the idea of a signed coin going on a journey :)

Performing 15 Tenyo tricks in 5 minutes can be done but it will take lots of practice. The performance of a trick maybe short but the introduction and disposal of the props is time consuming. For example, I can perform T-100 Two Into One Rope in 5 seconds but it will require 4 seconds to pick up the rope and dispose it.

To add speed to our performance, a Ross Bertram Welcome Mat ( servante attached to a close-up pad) and the Dennis Loomis Saddle Bags (chair servante) would be of great help. The props should be arranged so that they can be located immediately.

The props to use are the ones that can be performed quickly. Favorite tricks that are long should be left out. Once an effect is achieve it is not necessary to finish the routine as described in the Tenyo instruction sheet.

Listed below are some tricks that can be performed quickly:
T-212 Balerina Hank
T-214 Ultimate Shocking Pen
T-187 Mini Morphosis ( Simon's version or use a jumbo card with a gimmick)
T-172 Invisible Zone
T-180 Enchanted Strings
T-169 Zone Infinity
T-168 Floral Fantasy
T-163 Burglar Ball
T-155 Crystal Cleaver
T-146 Clean Cut
T-141 Mini-Zag
T-124 Mirror-Mate
T-117 The Alpha Tunnel
T-118 Side Track
T-114 Wonder Window
T-110 Zig Zag Cig
T-104 Black Hole
T-87 Squeeze Play
T-86 Ultra Tube
T-85 See Through Guillotine
T-84 Card Frame
T-77 See Through Card
T-80 Sponge Balls
T-74 Super Phanto Block
T-72 Flash Dice
T-68 Silk To Egg
T-61 I'm A Magician
T-39 Crazy Spots
T-27 Chinese Sticks
T-10 Silk From Hanky
T-241 Illusion Truck
T-206 Sun and Moon Tube (utility item)
T-40 Card Case (utility item)

Here is a sample routine that can be performed in less than a minute using the following props:
T-1 Thimble
T-9 Funny Dog
T-144 Arcane
T-30 Twin Flower
T-29 Color Changing silk

1. Finger palm the four puppies and thumb palm a thimble in your right hand.
2. Produce the thimble on the right forefinger.
3. Vanish the thimble in the left hand.
4. Lap the thumb palmed thimble while the left hand picks up one of the sponge dogs and shows it to the audience.
5. The right hand picks up the 2nd sponge dog from the table; takes the sponge dog from the left hand and clearly both places both in the left hand at the same time adding the palmed puppies.
6. The right hand picks up the wand (Arcane) and taps the close left hand.
7. Left hand is opened and the dogs have multiplied. Place dogs on the front left side of table.
8. Left had grasp the wand and transforms it into a cane while right hand laps the gimmick.
9. The cane is transferred to the right hand. The left hand then takes the Twin Flower from the botton hole as the right hand puts aside the cane.
10. The flower is multiplied, taken in the right hand and set aside at the same time the left hand is taking out the color changing silk from the breast pocket.
11. Perform the color changing silks.

A very short Tenyo Coin Routine:
Finger palm the required number of coins in the left hand. Produce the coins using the following tricks:
T-145 MoonSpinner
T-12 Coin Fan
T-239 Millionaires' Dream
T-253 Miracle Coin Thru ( performed in between coin productions)
T-148 Mira-Metal (performed after all coins in the left hand are produced)
T-48 Coin Case (performed after all coins in the left hand are produced)

Finish the coin routine with Angel Coins, Dynamic Coins, or Elevator Coins.

Here's a chap called zach king, there are lots of compilations of his stuff on YouTube, here's just one.
He does magic vines, short, 5second(ish) tricks. Needless to say there are a lot of camera tricks but some of the effects are really cool..

Ma Yan Yan, FISM winner, excellent ballet dancer and card manipulator, has probably the most original and deceptive body loads. Enjoy :D
