It was Cedille, shop specialized in wooden toys, in shopping center Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam NL. They have 1 more left. These are really heavy magic sets, so I had luckily no shipping costs :) Price was 39,95 €.

40 € for that magic set is really a gift Rob. Congratulations ! Beside the change bag and the magic wand, could you describe the content Rob ? It looks really interesting and it should be a special magic set because i'm not familiar with all the stuff. Wish you great weekend with your new toy ;)

Yes David, Toys 'r us sells it too, like Amazon.com of course. You should perhaps look for a wooden toy shop in Belgium.
Yes I can buy you an extra one of course, that shop is close to where we live.

And Victor, the content is a real surprise to me, with items I didn't have. Here's a pic:
_20140412_202750.JPG
Left under, the yellow boat-like one, is actually ESP prediction also made by Viking, which costs alone $ 99.
The tube above the yellow item is really special, it is a variation on Dice Elevator by Eddy Taytelbaum :).
The red cup is a coin tray. Above that there is a Sucker sliding coin box. In the middle the top one lets you appear/disappear a sponge ball, under that is a mirror box with a hole where you can stick the magic wand through, a bit like pencil without a middle! The big box with the dragon is the well known box in a box where you can make a coin appear. Finally in the box with vertical holes you can let a cube disappear.

Roberto and I beat you guys to the Melissa and Doug party :-)

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=303

These sets are wonderful and the coolest set for kids. I would have LOVED to have had these as a kid! Highly recommended!

I had an alternate handling for a few of these tricks and others that combined some sleight of hand.

Yes you're absolutely right JohnB, this set is already mentioned in the older post you refer to. But I was so surprised to see this item in a brick and mortar shop in Holland that I couldn't resist posting it.
So yes, old news actually, good that you mentioned that! It was nice to reread the previous post.

I like this set.

My favourite is the Mummy thomb effect....is the same than one made by Alan Warner but at 1/5 of the price.

Long time ago I made a video with one of the items of this set......made with the webcam of my computer:

John B brought over a couple of Doug and Melissa sets and performed them for me. The magic is quite good, not child like at all.

The coin set is neat. You get a bunch of nicely made gimmicked coins (the coins look similar to US coins, but would not withstand super close inspection). It includes a Scotch and Soda, folding coin, flipper coin, pen (cig) thru coin, shell coin, coin on elastic (like a pull), and chameleon coins. I think these sets have been discontinued.

I have the coin and card sets, but prefer the wooden sets for some reason. The deluxe set is the best, but the others are great too!

Are the pictures shown above the Melissa and Doug 'Deluxe Magic Set'? There is also M&D 'Incredible Illusions' Aren't all their sets constructed of wood and hand painted?

Hi David,

Yes the pieces are made of wood, but not hand painted. Check out my earlier thread at the link above for photos of all sets. They are great!!

Hello everyone
Are the two sets pictured above the same-do each of them have the mummy sarcophagus? I collect props and this is really an attractive set and would be nice to display.
Thanks,
David

No mummy set. The mummy chest is the chips prediction trick.

And yes, the two pics I have taken myself are the same set, the top one unpacked, the second one a display of almost all the Tricks.

I enjoy all 3 sets- they are highly recommended, and the props are beautiful at this price point. The deluxe set is my favorite.

I would have loved to have had these when I was kid!

If you visit thrift stores, M&D magic sets appear from time to time.

I'm sure the Coin Magic set (one of four that came out in boxes that resembled a book) was pulled because they had essentially counterfeited U.S. coins in making the props. A big no no.

All four "book" sets were in stores for only a few months and then suddenly gone.
