Carpenter's Revenge
Hi members,
As some of you already know, I am very busy with the making of a fantastic Tommy Wonder effect, from his Books of Wonder volume 1 called:
Carpenter's Revenge.
It is a trick where you penetrate a card, and at the end the card is unharmed. This sounds pretty known to many of you, but Tommy Wonder developed a version with a very unique mechanism.
After several prototypes I believe I have made a final version of this effect.
You can see this final effect here:
http://youtu.be/DpDca1w7eVA
An American magician is even so impressed with my version, that he asked for a copy. He didn't manage to make a proper workable one himself...
My question is: are there members who would like to have a copy of this trick?
Here are some pics of front and back of the final prototype : NB This is the prototype, the final version is made from laser-cut parts.!
Instead of the plastic sword a beautiful little metal sword will be added, actually a letter-opener. Think of this: The final version will be a laser-cut version, laser-cut by Simon. Simon laser-cut the parts, I assemble them.
Availability : it will take at least a month from today till they are completed.
Price : is a bit dependent of the number that will be made. Also the shape of the sword may vary.
When I make 10, I think of a price of $ 50 including shipping worldwide.
The prototype will get a nice design, I want to discuss that with Simon.
Take your time to consider this, there is no hurry

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
I love this trick, there's nothing suspicious to see, it all seems like you're about to wait for the card to be covered or something then POW! you stab right through it! I tried to make this once and it was very tricky, fortunately rob was much better at interpreting the designs than me. I like the addition of the sword, especially the metal one it looks great. Excited to be helping out on your project rob

Si, Rob,
Please count me in on this one.
Just let me know when it's ready to ship.
Best,
Bob~
and now, on with the show ...
Re: Carpenter's Revenge
What a great work Rob and Simon ! Would it be great if you make the prop thinner ? And will the final version be made out of wood ?
Re: Carpenter's Revenge

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
For your information : the final version will be made from laser-cut plastic, and will be much much thinner than the prototype you see on the pictures.
A previous plastic version can be seen here :

The plastic version looks fabulous. It's much thinner, and the "tolerances" which help make the movements of the effect smooth seem to be much improved as well. Will the specs of various Jumbo card stocks be a factor?
I was thinking that when the card is stabbed/penetrated, that a small piece of card stock could drop down onto the table from the back side, and could be picked up later to rub onto the card to restore it.
Jack lives!
and now, on with the show ...

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
Hi guys (and perhaps our girl member in the future?),
Please keep in mind that I rethought every aspect of this trick.
Concerning the cards: I use the cheapest mini jumbo cards available, they are just perfect for the job. Very thin, smooth, very bendable. Everyone who orders this gets extra cards, because the very nice thing is, that you can change the gimmick very easy! These card decks only cost me 1 euro. For a whole deck! And this deck is very easy available!
The sword is an extra, of course you can also use a knife or something similar, but the sword makes the routine more attractive to look at for the spectator, and fits the medieval looking court cards.
It is also possible for those with a money problem, to trade it for an other other, not necessarily a Tenyo trick.
I do this for fun. But I take my fun very serious
And the collaboration with Simon is a plus too!
We had a previous project, Simon and I, the Skillbabe. That was the Tenyo Billscape, a remade version, that also worked out very well.

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
BluBob, Pete, Bill... Thanks for your trust in this project! I assure you will not be disappointed.
It is weekend now and beautiful weather finally (in Europe), so many members are enjoying the sun now. So I expect more reactions the coming week.
Including the American magician, there are now 6 people interested. That includes myself
I decide to make 10 of them. That means that only 4 are left.
Anyone interested, just let me know.

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
Hello all, thanks for the great response to Carpenter's Revenge! I have almost finished laser-cutting all of the parts ready to be sent over to Rob. It's taken a while to test and find just the right material, which cuts well at the thinner thickness, but now we have the right one to make a durable trick which will last you a lifetime! Rob is the mastermind here, I'm just fabricating parts, so when they arrive at the Rand Magic Workshop in a few days that's when the real magic happens!
As this is a collaboration between me and Rob, I'll offer my last Mystery Rabbit set to anyone buying the Carpenter's Revenge at a 15% discount (£75) anyone interested can PM me.
Thanks again!
Si

All Carpenter's Revenge are now reserved.
Whoever reserved one and wants the Mystery Rabbit for a reduced price, give Simon a shout! I own a Mystery Rabbit and this is not just a trick, but a whole routine with lots of possibilities to adapt the routine, so it is very versatile! Highly recommended!

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
Finally, the final version of Carpenter's Revenge is ready! A demo video can be seen at:
https://youtu.be/jUZSoNT7wJo
The manual is almost ready, I will let all who ordered one know when it is available and ready to ship.
One remark: this was a very time-consuming project. Therefore I would like to ask if you don't mind that I ask, instead of $ 50,-, EURO 50,- for it, inclusing shipping worldwide.

Re: Carpenter's Revenge
WAHEY!!!
I've been looking forward to this video
This looks great and it's a very smooth performance, no funny moves it all looks very natural.
I've been fortunate to see some behind the scenes in the brotherbor workshop and there's a LOT of work gone into this trick, it's an absolute bargain and an expertly made prop.
Congratulations Rob!!

I was very excited to see a package from the Netherlands when I got home today!!
I'm waiting for the mystic ruby to go to bed so I can enjoy it properly and open it up without risk of it being thrown across the room!

Glad you received it too Simon! I believe Royal Mail is the best, they deliver on Monday in the UK. Not in Holland, and probably also not in France
Now you can see what I did with your parts!
