Hologram
Hologram
Good evening all, in an unexpected lull in the day this week I decided to make a hologram, can any of you masterminds work out how I did it?

Re: Hologram
So this is just a flat surface with openings in it ... is it made from cardboard and with laser cut openings?
And of course a lamp at the bottom... It looks amazing!

Re: Hologram
Beautifully done Simon! Flat plexiglass laser burned with correct perspective lines, and lit from below most likely with an led. Great job! I like the light flare your picture has, it adds to the perspective!
Re: Hologram
Looks great Simon As Peter said, I guess also it was a transparent plexi glass with very fine laser cut. Can you make it float ? I will look like a floating light bulb
Re: Hologram
How cool!
Gotta be a flat surface, otherwise we would see lines from the other side.
The light source at the bottom is burned out (in the image), so it's hard to tell if it created the green cast, or if the plexi is tinted. If the light source can be DIFFUSED, it will create a much more even cast on the piece. If a base is installed and a diffused light source is placed on the base, at the bottom, chances are that the light can travel up, and through, the piece creating an ultimate 3D "globe" effect.
Etched lines create that beautiful 3D roundness ... already very "globe-like."
Bravo!

Well done guys! It is a flat piece of acrylic with the design etched into the surface. When light is applied underneath it hits the etches and looks awesome! It's an idea I saw online and had to try out.
My photoshop skills aren't quite up to that yet John

Really impressive Simon !!!
Re: Hologram
Very cool and FUN!
I can't help but wonder what could happen if you turned the plexi over, OFSET the design and etched the back? I believe that it could be done is such a manner that when viewing from the front the viwer would have the appearance of seeing the other side of the globe.
You can also obtain diffusion Gel sheets from a lighting establishment/Camera shop such as B&H or Sammy's. (LINK->) http://www.samys.com/c/Color-Filter--Di ... 3/559.html
Diffusing the light source will create a more even spread over the plexi.
Thanks for this, you are always thinking, and we are all motivated by your creativity!

Re: Hologram
I can't take credit for these, I'm just replicating someone else's idea for my desk! but they are fun to draw up, I made a lamp today, photos to come on Monday once I've found the right light source...
