You have to see him first...hmmm...that`s interesting way to name a baby :) I never do it but I remembered when we (myself & my wife) expected our first baby daughter. At the age of 6-7 months of pregnancy, we came up with 2 names. I asked the baby which name she would like to have and gave us a confirmation by kicking mommy`s tummy :) At the first question (offering the first name)...no response.....2nd question (offering second name)....she kicked :o . This could be lucky or coincidence we thought. And to confirm, we asked twice, with same procedure.....and we got a same result. Really2 surprising....looked so magical indeed.
:o :D

If you see him, proceed with a male type name ...

If you see her, try a female name ...

Hey, my middle name is "Einstein" for a reason!
and now, on with the show ...

I showed this thread to Emmy (my wife) and she immediately told me I forgot to congratulate your spouse since she is the one that did all the hard labour - for us, men, it's all fun making them, but afterwards ...
So, a big 'well done' to your wife, Simon, from both me and Emmy :D

Just a quick (in my opinion 'über-'!) curious question from Emmy, but will you be going for a number 3?

thanks guys! we're settling in nicely, and Ruben's doing well so far to settle into the change :)
Bryony says thanks too. I think that's us for kids, we won't be going for number 3 but hey that's just how we feel at the moment.
And yes Brett, the sleep schedule has already gone up in smoke, it's zombie time for me ;)

David DeTenyo wrote:Well, my wife and I are waiting the result of some blood tests (my wife is 37 and I'm 39 and it will be our first and probably last child) and weren't planning to tell anyone yet apart from close family of course, but hey, if all goes well I'll probably be a daddy too in august :D We weren't actually 'trying' anymore and kind of imagined a life without a child, so it was a BIG surprise when the pregnancy test showed a positive result last december
My biggest fear (apart from the child being healthy of course!!!) was actually that it could have been twins, there are some in our family ... :o, imagine that, not really expecting to have a child and than there are two  , but it seems it will be only one :) . No idea of the gender yet.
Anyway, sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but I know most of you guys have children, so as Simon said/asked, any advice is welcome 8-)
Roberto, I believe you were also a bit 'older 'than most parents with the birth of your son? Any other 'older' daddy's here? It's just at my school people of my age have already children that go to middle and high school, and I'll be chainging dipers in a few months
Hey David!....congratulation to you too!!...answering your question: Yes, I was 40 when Robertito was born.....and I can tell you that it's a great timing.....also as you get older you need less hours of sleep ;)

Well add me to the over 40 with a baby club. My wife gave birth to a baby girl last week.
Everybody is doing well but looks like I've got some sleepless nights ahead of me. ;)
At the least I'll be able to read your Eastern Hemisphere posts as you post them instead of eight hours later. :)
