It Tenyo but technically Japanese :)

Post by SimonC » Fri Nov 11, 2016 12:13 pm

This arrived today, a little present to myself (and I mean little, it's a mini NES)
I have an evening of nostalgia ahead of me, JOY!

You'll be glad you did mate. I went straight into mario3, I'm not going to bed til ive completed it ;)
It recreates the retro gaming experience very well, in that I had to fumble around with a load of wires and sit 2feet from my tv to play, but it's all worth it ;)

Cool! I had about 15 of the original games in my basement from the 1980s. I spent my past birthday playing the original Legend of Zelda (took the day off) and beat the second quest.

Nice :) both Zelda games are on this, all the Marius, donkey kong, 30 games in all. And it's tiny! (Fits in my palm)

These are completely sold out here at the moment. Not sure if it's the same nation-wide, but certainly in the Seattle area.

I preordered mine a while ago. I'm having so much fun. I'm stuck on world 7 on Marino 3 but getting there. It's such a great little unit :)

Woah! They really are sold out! Glad I pre-ordered mine (first time I've ever done that).
Only place they are is eBay but they've shot up in price. Mine was £49.99 and they are on average £150 now! They'll make more I'm sure but I can probably enjoy at least one week of feeling smug ;)
You're all welcome round for a retro gaming night but the plane fare may be a bit steep

I read someplace that Nintendo is cannibalizing parts from the Wii in order to make these, so there won't be an unlimited supply because those parts will run out.

Believe it or not... I still have my old Atari 2600 (with lots o' game cartridges) from when I was a kid. That'll have to hold me over until they stock a few more NES minis in my neck of the woods.

Nice! I've never thrown a console away, I've got quite a collection now, I just need a mansion with an assortment of outdated TVs to plug them into :)

Yay, me!
I just purchased one through Walmart. They've been having "blitz" sales online for the past week or so, releasing a few units every day at 5 PM EST. I tried every day last week, but simply could get through the transaction process before they all sold out. I tried again today (supposedly the last day) and... yippee!

Good on you mate, you've got a fun few days ahead. I completed mario 3 the other night, I never made it to the last level before, my ten year old self thought I was really cool

I did not know something like this exists! Where do you get all these beautiful toys?!

Does it come with a bunch of games preloaded onto it?

I recently got my kids into playing my SNES and we're playing Pokemon Crystal on an emulator right now. Daughter-face and I are going through Earthbound as we speak.

And for the record. Mario 3 is awesome. Do you know where to find the 3 warp whistles? Or did you plow through each level like a madman?
Where's my colon?!

The NES mini has 30 preloaded games :)
I did it without the warp whistles (but I know where they are :)
I hammered through, one good thing is you can save your progress with the mini, so no more leaving it in for a week until it melts into a grey electro-pancake

I have the original NES plus Atari 5200, Sega Genesis, and Sega Dreamcast.

Unfortunately the Duck Hunt Game does not work with the new flat screen TVs.

Same with House of the Dead shooter on Dreamcast.
