IF Belgium would play against Holland it would be in the semi finals :) Holland now has to play against Costa Rica which should be doable.
belgium first meets the USA which won't be asy at all. If Belgium or USA would advance Argentina (aka 'Messi's team) would be the next team and that will be nearly impossible for both, but you never know.
It's going to be very exciting!

In any case a big congrats to Rob's Holland - perhaps the next world champion? Sorry for Roberto's Chile, they played a good game but winning against Brazil is tough ... VERY tough.

Yes, the Dutch seem unbeatable :)

It's because of the new style of playing.. Not elegant (with elegance you don't win a match) but ROHDA* !

I aged 5 years again in 3 hours ... . Boy this was exciting, the first game I am proud of being a Belgian, they fought, as the USA did. We saw a very tencing game and USA could have won, but Belgium did great.

Sorry for Switzerland, they were better then Argentina. We'll try to defeat those Argentinians on saturday, and after that everything is possible.

Simon, IF (!) we would defeat Argentina, Holland will probably await us in the semi finals (if they can beat Costa Rica which should be much if a problem for them).

David.....I remember Mexico 1986 when Belgium ended in 4th place (that was my second Worldcup.....the far I can go in memories is Spain 1982)......this can be the Worldcup to improve that mark!!

Chances are 50/50 I believe against Argentina - if we can stop circus Messi we have a chance, but they have other good players too of course.
I hope for a good, open game with a lot of fighting spirit (not as much as in the game between Colombia and Brazil though!).

Holland will beat Costa Rica, no doubt about that. If they don't they should be ashamed actually.

Sorry for you David!

OK the Belgians are unfortunately out.

As the only Dutch Tenyomember I predict that Holland will win with 2-1 from Costa Rica tonight.
It starts at 22 hours European time...

What a boring match NL-Costa Rica! I hardly watched, preferred to continue working on making magic tricks.

My prediction was not exactly, but NL did win again, 1-0 for NL. Louis van Gaal is a clever man...

Yes, Argentina is a difficult 'pain in the a**' to play against ... . Congrats to Holland! They deserved to win in my opinion.

And now Netherlands against Argentina, I have no idea what to expect. This will be a tough nut to crack for Holland, but they are able to do it. So HUP HOLLAND HUP!

July 8 2014... Brazil against Germany... What a weird match! As if Germany played against a 10th range football club......
What a tragedy for all these 200 million Brazilians...

But the Germans just played great I must admit!
It is ironical that our only German member has never responded on this football thread...

I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday ... . Brazil was nowhere. This is going to be hard for all those Brazilians, the WC costed so much money to their country, they really wanted to become world champion. And now this happens, a complete failure in the highest degree. I wouldn't be surprised if they're are going to be some riots :(
It's heartbraking to see all those supporters live with their team as if their life depends on it. And for what? It's just ... a game. Us Europeans are different I think, if we're defeated, so be it. Life goes on. Better luck next time.
Brazil was lucky to advance to the semi's in my opinion, they won against Colombia with fighing, like a rugby match. Brazil is just a very, very 'normal' team ... . Very sad.
And what a strong German team, oh boy!

I woke up this morning and saw the score, at first I thought it must have gone to penalties or something, but that was a pasting! so fingers crossed for Holland now, Rob said he'd buy us all a pint if they won ;)

Thank you Simon!

This is going to be very tough ...

Both teams ARG en NED are both strong teams.

I fear it will end in penalties...

And that's the end for the Netherlands, sadly enough...

But I'm happy to be together now with the other countries who have lost! ;)
Welcome!
