David you read my mind! I was just chatting to rob about how we should keep tabs on any matches where our members teams are playing. It's England tonight,
COME OB ENGLAND!!
I'm holding out for an England USA final, if England win you're never allowed to call it soccer again

Re: Worldcup Brasil
England has a solid team with a few very good players, so I hope you guys get far! As far as USA is concerned, I have doubts but those guys play as if their lives depend on it so they can get far as well
I believe we also have Italian, German, Spanish (must be hurt right now :p) and Belgian members on this forum whose country will play later tonight or the next few days.
I believe one of the big surprises could be Japan - Belgium played against them and they have a great team! Another surprise if definately Holland which I never thought would be able to beat Spain. But if you have guys like Robben and Van Persie in your team everything is possible They have definately become a potential winner of this world cup, if one of their main players doesn't get hurt and if they don't start to argue over peanuts as they have done in the past
Here's the schedule: http://wereldkampioenschapbrazilie.nl/w ... k-2014.pdf

Group C were all rooting for Japan (The unofficial team of the Tenyo forum)
Group D it's all about ENGLAND! (god save the queen) (I think we have one Italian member too)
Group E David will you be rooting for France?
Group F take your pick
Group G it's Germany vs USA (don't mention the war) we have members from both places
Group H BELGIUM!!

Since my father is French and so half of my family is , if Belgium doesn't make it I will support France and Holland (my wife is half Dutch and was VERY upset yesterday she didn't see the game ).SimonC wrote: Group E David will you be rooting for France?
Same here, don't care about football but a European Cup or Worldcup is something differentSimonC wrote:I only get into football when is the World Cup, we could have some friendly competition here

Re: Worldcup Brasil
I do not know if you remember the last world cup and the vuvuzelas?
We made a video at the magic shop 4 years ago for the world cup: the appearing vuvuzela. It is very bad quality (it was recorded with a mobile phone). You can watch it here:

Re: Worldcup Brasil
Hah! Nice one Botond!
Belgium vs Algeria, watch those Algerians, they have a few VERY good players. As far as Belgium is concerned, we have a few very good players but as a team they have not yet played that good (yet), and our coach isn't a genious as Van Gaal is ... . We'll see!
I'll go for 2-2 for Belgium - Algeria, yep, not that much confidence in them for now! Has probably to do with the way Belgians think, we like being the underdog

I'm the only Dutch member here, and even I, as a not so fanatic football lover, was a little bit proud of the 5-1, and I believe nobody expected this.
Well maybe we can introduce a football prediction game, and the winner gets a football related magic trick

Re: Worldcup Brasil
(Simon & David) no problem. It doesn't matter for me who will be the champion for this tournament but if i were to ask i want a new team to be the champion for a change and for history.
the ball is round anyway and still unpredictable who will play for the last match just like what happened between the match of Esp vs Ned, less expected with the score results. powerful orange team. Congrats Rob!
for the match between ENG vs ITA i'll bet for the English team 2 - 0

It's a big day in England today, first game of the World Cup and it's the queens official birthday. Also, the pubs are open late into the early hours due to the time zone in Brazil!

Re: Worldcup Brasil
I do not really have a favorite team. I tend to cheer for the surprise team (the one nobody expects to do well).
But since when I have kids it is impossible to watch anything but cartoons on tv at home.
So probably I would only be able to watch the finals. At one of my friends.

I believe Chile has a great team too, 3-1 from Australia is a very good score!
What I don't like is that half Netherlands is colored orange. The usually quiet sober Dutch suddenly seem to think carnival has already started.

Re: Worldcup Brasil
Till now my favourite match is Holland vs Spain.....is incredible how Holland disarmed the world champion team.
In the last Worldcup Spain received only two goals in al the tournament.....1 from Switzerland.....and 1 from Chile.......and now there was 5 in just 1 match.....that was hard!!
Anyway .....Spain also lost their first match in the last worldcup......so anything can happen.....

Re: Worldcup Brasil
Everything is still possible for England. They just need to win their next two matches - Uruguay is their next opponent, and they also have to win that game, which doesn't make it easier of course. England deserved more from what I saw in the summary. Italy is always so incredible efficient in what they do, it's a team which can play afwull (which they didn't yesterday) and still win a game.
Yes, Spain vs Holland was a great match to see - but I can't help feeling that not only Holland was very good, but Spain was very, very bad ... . What goes up, must come down
I believe Spain must have felt like this after the match for a while:
'They' is refering to Robben and van Persie probably Yep, it was pretty Spainful, a real Spain in the *ss
Ok i'll stop making fun of Spain now
