Optical Illusions - Alive Museum

Post by VictorS » Sun Jul 06, 2014 2:37 am

Hi Guys,

Just want to share some fun moments to all of you who love optical illusions. It really looks like magic and I was impressed on how people came to the ideas of creating such art. I was in The Alive Museum in Singapore last week and I had a great fun with my wife and kids. I assumed it should be similar exhibition existed around the world. Here are some cool pics to share, hope you enjoy it guys.

Cheers,
Victor

What a cool place! That looks like a great day out, I've never seen anywhere like that before it's such a good idea. So does the place look really weird until you stand in just the right places? You have a lovely family too victor, it's like you and your wife have a mini version of each other, it looks like you guys are very happy and have a lot of fun :)

Those are really good. Looks like the 3D sidewalk chalk drawings you see online. Amazing work.
Having pictures of the kids on them is priceless something they can always remember. :)

Victor, in the first place I must say that you are a great photographer! I first thought you had these from a catalogue!
And how nice to see you and your family! First I really thought: wow, your wife is a real acrobat! Until my wife said, no no Rob, this isn't real! :)
Optical illusions always fascinated me, so this was a big pleasure to look at! Thanks for sharing!

Here is some street art by Julian Beever.

You can see the illusion and what it looks like when you are not in the exact viewing position.

Very cool museum and those pictures are the best. Will be great for the kids to look back on as they grow up. Some of those pictures do remind me of some of the sidewalk art that I saw a few years ago in Central Park when we went to see Van Morrison there in the Big Apple. You had to stand in just the right place for the effect to work, but it was so cool!

Thanks guys....glad that you like it ;)

@Simon : You are not the one who said that. It feels like looking at jumbo and mini bicycle deck. :) We are very happy and lucky to have them. I believe Mystic Ruby will become a great kid also (like his father ;))

@Richard : Totally agree with you....the art is excellent, the moment is priceless.

@Rob : Thanks for the compliment Rob, well I`m not a professional photographer, the pictures were also edited in order to get a better brightness and contrast. The acrobatic illusion fooled me also at the first time I looked at it...until I realized.....ahaaaaa....;D

@John and Mike : Yes...they have similar illusions like the Globe. The other cool things that they included also illusions using mirrors...very impressive ! It feels like you are in the Tenyo Art Banks :D

Here's anther cool illusion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=98&v=ozzA-wkHaTY

Imagine using this in a magic trick. The paper is in a box, spectators are in front of it and can only look at the right angle. Close the front flap of the box. Destroy the box. The glass is ... GONE

Very cool :) I printed a few of these out a while ago, if you google anamorphic illusion there's some good ones. The Rubik's cube one is good. I like the idea of using it in a trick :)

Victor, you can check out Trick Eye Museum @ Resort World Sentosa on your next visit to Singapore. It is a museum with optical illusions too. Your family will love it and thanks for sharing the pictures :D

Thanks ZX for the info ;) ....I`m aware of the Trick Eye Museum @ Sentosa Island at the time I visited Singapore last year. We saw the SEA Aquarium and it was awesome but unfortunately I had no opportunity to visit Trick Eye Museum. Should be interesting too. Sure I will try it once I visit Singapore again ;)
