Fred from Sweden

Post by FredA » Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:32 am

Hi guys,

I was a very active semi-pro illusionist years ago, but got tired of it overnight and it wasn't until recently I actually started to unpack my old props again. I'm not planning to start performing again, I'm too busy with so many other things at the moment... BUT when I started to go through the stuff in the basement I found some old Tenyo tricks from the beginning of my career - and I fell in love again! I went crazy when I visited Japan, found Tenyo's corner at Isetan, and I was 100% stuck again ;) I see magic as a meditative thing, to focus and sometimes surprise myself. A way to gain creativity in my job as a format developer for a TV production company.

Anyway, I'm happy to see so many fans of Tenyo!

/Fred

Welcome Fred. What I like about Tenyo is that you can have a lot of magic fun without too much studying and practicing. I was the same way when I played golf. I just wanted to get out on the course and play and not spend a lot of time at the driving range or practice green. Of course I would only get so good doing it that way, but I was content just to be out on the course and having fun. I feel the same way about magic. More fun and less work makes me a happy boy.

This is what I found in the basement which made me start focusing on Tenyo again. Nothing special maybe, but this is what I have left. I had a phase where I hated (yes, true) magic so much I sold or gave away many of my props and never looked back. I'm happy I didn't get rid of Illusionarium, because I still think it's a great trick and I always fool my audience with it :)

In case you're interested Fred, the most difficult item to find thesedays is the Superstick you have (top left) - and it's nice you still have part of the package; It is worth quite a lot of money! I for one do not own a 'complete' Superstick, there is a gem missing from one of the dice and I don't have the packaging.
In any case this is already a very nice litle collection with all of your tricks already being discontinued :)

By the way there are quite a lot of people who have some extra Tenyo's for sale or trade on this forum, just post what you're looking for in the for sale/trade section and let the offers come in ;) You'll most likely get better deals then on Ebay - I hope you don't mind me saying that Botond but since you also sell through this forum I suppose I'm OK :)

David: My Superstick also misses a couple of gemstones, which I totally forgotten - or maybe it happen while being in storage. I've been thinking of replacing the stones to make it complete again.

And yeah, I will probably try to find some tricks I want to own - but I'm not sure I can reach that forum yet,I think I need to make at least 10 posts or so here :)

If you still have the original gems use the correct glue to paste them back in, it is glue that remains crystal clear when it dries.
I do not have the original gemstone and have searched for an identical matching gemstone but have not found one.

I just took my trick and it seems I actually need two: blue and yellow, both for the die, I think (!) they are smaller then the ones on the sticks.

Why are you asking Fred? :P

David, because I'm seriously thinking of replacing the stones with completely new ones, and then I'm willing to send you the colors you need (I think I have both of them, but I need to double check at home) - so you get a completely original version :) But I need to find replacement stones for myself first, so if you give me some time...
