New to Tenyo Old Timer to Magic

Post by MerlinsMagicShopMike » Thu Jan 30, 2014 2:51 pm

Hello! Im a new member here and am pretty new to collecting Tenyo. I probably have well over 1000 magic tricks and illusions with only about 30 or so actually being Tenyo.I really never knew that I had any Tenyo tricks until I was showing a friend a trick that I had called Tunnel of Darkness. He was amazed at this simple trick and asked where he could get one. Since I had purchased this trick years ago I told him that I would try to find him one.I first asked a salesman at a magic shop that I had found while on vacation to Florida where I could find one and he just laughed and said "Good Luck".Then he explained that this was a Tenyo magic trick and that it was one that was pretty hard to find and that even if I did find one that it would be much more expensive than the $14.00 or $15.00 that I had originally paid for it.That was when I went on Ebay and started looking up Tenyo magic tricks and realized just how collectable they were, and Pricey! Well when I got home I printed out a list of all Tenyo tricks and found out that I had quite a few of them in my collection already,Many of them were among my favorite ones. Also many were very old ,since I have been collecting magic since I was 8 or 9 years old and lets just say that I'm no spring chicken! So with my newfound knowledge and appreciation for all things Tenyo I found this site and am currently trying to procure many more Tenyo tricks. I'm not going to try to get them all since many of them don't appeal to me, but some I find are just short of genius, some pretty lame, but I guess thats the same with all magic. I also find that within my pretty extensive collection that there are many non Tenyo tricks that use VERY similar methods to famous Tenyo tricks like Billscape and Ninja Experiment, just to name a few. Well thats just a little about me, and I'm looking forward to talking Tenyo collection and performing on this forum.

Great introduction Merlin, and not knowing that you had Tenyo tricks has some advantages because you consider all your tricks as tricks good or bad. Now I just remade Billscape and I am curious about these similar trick!
Anyway, welcome on this forum!

Welcome Mike! I'm also very curious about Ninja Experiment and Billscape-look-a-likes ... . Could you give more info on them and perhaps provide a photo?

Mike said there are tricks with similar methods but they are probably not look-a-likes.

When he mentioned Ninja Experiment I thought the sliding part might be used in other tricks. I was not thinking of the *i**o*

Wow! that is really cool. Brings back some memories for sure but I don't know if I have an extra four and a half grand lying around here anywhere. Maybe I'll make a $200 lowball offer!
