Here's a trick I've recently rediscovered. It's one I find myself practicing 200 times in a row, a bit like someone obsessively playing with a rubix cube. Once you nail it this trick is super sneaky, versatile and very unassuming. I love tiny boxes anyway but the design of this is perfect in its simplicity.
My only beef is mines a little stubborn and sticky so Im never 100% confident about performing it. Anyone else have this issue? Im wondering whether a little WD40 would work or is that too risky.

Yes I have it, but because I bought later Vikings Deluxe Rattle Box I fear I will never use it again. The Vikings one is so superior to it and works so great and smooth, that I even dislike the Tenyo version.

Is it able to Magic the contents out like trap box? It looks very nice

Yes it is exactly the same principle but works way better, and this item is not even that expensive!

How much is it rob? It looks too well made to be really cheap

Well it's 40 dollar, so not that cheap. But it is a real pleasure to perform. Of course you must combine it with an other trick like Ring on sword illusion.

PS Ring on sword illusion is a trick you could make yourself Simon!

I always liked the idea of a ghost pet/trap box combo

The two I have had that were both tough too. Do not add any oil, it will not help and will be messy. By doing it 200 times in a row, hasn't you fingers muscles become stronger to make the move easier?

...and that`s why they called it Trap Box...you are trapped to always practice the move with it

Same here, tough to 'move' ... but doable nonetheless. I haven't performed it to anyone yet, and I should give it a try in combination with another trick.
So Rob, the Viking one is more or less examinable too?

Well I play the guitar every day and that helps with my finger strength/dexterity, particularly for stuff with cards. I'm glad you said not to use oil as I did think it would make a mess. Do you think it's supposed to work smoothly and there were just a bunch that don't or is this just a stubborn one? I think something to improve the grip on the fingertips would help, I've found that with card manipulations too, is there some magic paste magicians use to help with this?

So cool, so when can we expect the first Tenyo song ever written and performed? Maybe something like Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire where he rattles off a whole bunch of things. You can rattle off the trick names and tie it all together with a couple of versus.

I think there is a leaf spring in there and it is too tight.

Hah! Well I did write that poem about me getting kicked of the magic cafe out of anagrams of tenyo tricks but I've not put anything to music yet.
I am hoping to start making my own backing music for my magic vids, it does involve me getting off my arse and working out how tho

I don't think I've had too much difficulty in making it work. I do like the fact that is is not too easy too work because that makes it examinable. I remember when I first got it it I only had the Japanese instructions and it took me a very long time to figure out how to operate the gimmick.

Here's a small routine I came up with in combination with Coin in Nest that's good for kids.
Basically I would have 2 kids. I'd have each one sign one side of the coin, put it in the Trap Box, give it a shake and put it on the right hand of one of the kids. Then I'd take the Coins in Nest from my pocket and put that on the the left hand of the other kid. Then tell them to join their free hands together.
At this point you can tell them that science has found that matter can move through your body using your mind or some other nonsense. Anyway have them concentrate on moving the coin from one box to the other. Ask them if they felt anything and tell them you think you just saw a spark where their hands are joined.
Have trap box kid shake the trap box. The coin is gone! Have fun watching the other kid open all the Coin in Nest boxes to find the signed coin.

I rated it pretty good, because its a nice trick, the ring on the finger is surprising gimmick is well hidden.
But it is a very plain box doing a plain vanishing trick, which most audience would probably expect that.

I just received Trap Box in the mail today and mine is quite stubborn as well. I'm not sure if WD40 would be the best choice.
However, I can't tell if it's stubborn or if I'm doing something wrong.

No oil.

It is going to be tough. It probably has a tight leaf spring like all of them.

I got mine to work, complete operator error. Not even sure how one would go about oiling it, but the gimmick for mine works like a champ. It's just the English instructions that I have didn't really go into detail how the gimmick worked, I felt.

Silicon spray is what you would use, not "oil."

No sprays of any kind are needed. It is not a friction issue. It is an issue with the leaf spring being too strong.

The only way to combat that is to work it in, but I think it is too strong to change much.

I think it is just something we have to live with.
