I really like this one. For me, it's another one of those cool plastic props that made me love Tenyo so much.

With a bit of practice and some tweaking the way you handle it, it works well and consistently. Using the correct coin is also important.

I like this trick, it's one I've used a lot at school. I'll show the class then challenge someone to either do it themself or tell me how I did it.
Clever thinking, bit of a knack to it so I'm never 100% confident performing it so a point lost for that!
Now you see me...

Can't that be explained as hearing the magic happen? I never had a problem with that noise.

It's not a problem in the Paul Daniels version either. It doesn't give anything away.

Interesting indeed - a year after Tenyo released Dragon Altar, Paul Daniels performed this larger version in his show. Paul was known to buy all sorts of little gimmicky stuff, he performed Parabox too in one of his tv shows. I think he stumbled across Dragon Altar and decided to make a larger version of it. Sad we can't ask him anymore ... .

Thanks for sharing that video Victor! Very cool!

It's impressive how Paul Daniels managed to get those props together. I assume he had most if not all of the props specially made for the effect.

How many Tenyo tricks can you get away with doing by saying, "Do you hear that click [you can substitute thud, or bang, etc.], that's when the magic happens."

That's a really bad way to perform magic. Laymen are not stupid.

I didn't write an opinion yet but this afternoon I had some time to play with Dragon Altar. I remember it being very difficult to get it to work 100% of the time.

I tried about 30 times, following the instructions, but I only succeeded about 1/3 of the time in doing what is supposed to happen. More practice is necessary I guess.

I also tried the extra effect described in Tenyoism (the optical illusion looks VERY convincing by the way, even up close) but had a hard time to 'drop' the coin in the box ... I didn't succeed once to be honest, and yes Richard, I did exactly what you wrote ;)

Ah well, this is a very clever trick, but it needs some serious practice to get the 'feeling' of it, as Richard also wrote in Tenyoism by the way.

No one said that you have to make a reference to a noise. That's up to the performer. I prefer to make a comment rather than bang on the table or make some other obnoxious noise.

All laymen are different. Some are more assuming than others. While some may be suspicious about a sound they hear, others just want to be entertained and are not so critical. They go with the flow so to speak.

I think it's safe to say that Dragon Altar is a good clever trick.

About the noise ... if a ball passes thru a coin and lid, isn't it supposed to make a noise? :D

There is now a wooden version available of Tenyo’s Dragon Altar for only 35 euro.
At Dynamitemagic.nl

It’s called “Impossi-Ball”:

https://www.dynamitemagic.nl/en/product ... ball-5854/

I’m curious if it works smoother than the original one.
The lid is different from the original one.

(Dynamitemagic has more wooden effects for 35 euro, a remake of Angelo Carbone’s “Squeeze-Thru” called Thru the hole:
https://www.dynamitemagic.nl/en/product ... -dms-5849/
and of that ring through rod effect of which I forgot the name called Ring on wand:
(Edit: I meant Kenard Mystery Box)
https://www.dynamitemagic.nl/en/product ... -dms-5850/)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Dragon Altar has always been one of my favorite Tenyo pieces. This wooden version looks really nice and, I like the larger size.

Dragon Altar & Squeeze-Thru in wood for only 35 euro looks tempting

Is this company a European copy company or an Asian copy company ?

Thanks Rob for the information. I’ve ordered Impossi-Ball as a Birthday present to myself. I’ll let you know my thoughts when the effect arrives!

Well, after some hesitation I also ordered the Impossi-Ball…

It’s a bargain of course!

I think these wooden items are made in Europe…

I saw that the Squeeze Thru or Thru the hole is already sold out..,
