I think I like the Disney version of this better. The envelope is much smaller and to me less suspicious.
I remember when i finally got the original how surprised I was at how big the envelope was although it does hide the "gimmick" better. The Mickey version also has that bonus routine where the pendent comes off the chain without the envelope as well.

From the sister Tenyo Website (http://funstuffonly.com/tenyo/performin ... -routines/):

Combining Tenyo Magic Tricks in One Routine

T-092 PENDANT AND T-235 MAGICAL DOOR
Pendant involves the use of a chain that magically attaches to a pendant. With this combination you will need two identical keys and the chain from either Magical Door or Pendant. Perform the routine from Pendant using either the envelope or the shirt pocket and have the chain attach to the key. Then from there perform the two penetrations in Magical Door. The audience will think that the chain can really melt after seeing it demonstrated in a variety of presentations. Plus all the heat will be on the chain.

I too prefer the new Mickey version of Pendant because of the smaller size. It makes it easier to handle.
Pendant (or even the newer version) is not among my favourite Tenyo's, but the routine with Magical Door is something I'm going to try for sure :)

By the Way Jay Sankey has an effect called Leaving Home which is basically the same trick using a key but without the envelope. It uses a sleight to achieve the same results as the envelope. I think it is more impressive but of course will take much more practice than the Tenyo version.

What is cool about some of the older Tenyo tricks is that they incorporated their bunny mascot Ty. The medallion for Pendant with Ty is very similar in marking to coins Tenyo put out called palming coins. I do not know much about them, but some people (not me) are lucky to have enough of them to use with their Space Walking Coins. Space Walking Coins came with no coins but the instructions say to use either the palming coins or US Half Dollars. The illustrations in the instructions for Space Walking Coins picture the palming coins (see below). Below is a picture of the Pendant and the obverse and reverse of the Tenyo Palming Coin.

John, Pendant has the same reverse of the palming coin?

I've never seen these coins before, as a coin lover I like these very much!
Perfect palming coins, great! Tenyo has so much to offer, I believe only you JohnM know the whole picture!

That first effect in the video is not something that is in the vintage Pendant instructions. Is the shoe charm gimmicked to allow that to happen?

Rob, yes that is a Cinderella show. Tenyo has the Disney license in Japan and they make a lot of Disney themed products and magic tricks.

Not sure John....I don't have this one.

I supose the the Cinderella shoe and the Mickey head are just hooked in some way in the first stage of the performance.......so you can easily detach it........ See the photo...it has a hook like protuberance that would allow this:

I couldn't find a video for the original Pendant.

Yes that hook is so clever. I was thinking magnet. Typical Tenyo to kick it up a notch.

In the second stage it appears that heals the original pendant and drops an attached duplicate from his other hand at the point both hands touch

I just checked my Mickey version of Pendant and as Roberto Holmes discovered the inner side of his ears form a litle hook. It is the second routine explained in the (Japanese) manual.
Simon, that is indeed the original Pendant routine :)

What a great idea to gimmick one of the ears of Mickey Mouse...! So they do have a function, not only because children love Mickey Mouse!
