This is a pretty good trick that one could make a nice routine for.

My problem is that when i try it, the salt keeps getting stuck in the mechanism making the gimmick noisy and hard to close correctly.
Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

More or less the same issue here Elliot, the darn thing just doesn't work properly. It doesn't really get stuck with mine but in stead the gimmick is too loose which makes this one hard to perform correct.

I don't perform it so I haven't though about routines.

There are two routines that I once read, one is using sand in stead of salt (and thus use a sand-coloured silk) and the other one is in the Hot Tips section of Tenyo's official website and is called 'sugar cube'.

I like the routine that comes with the trick. Unfortunately, Elliot is right, the prop is unreliable. Mine does not open and close properly. I perform this trick with the gimmick permanently open but the effect is greatly lessened.
