Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
The Telegraph Chest - Early September 2020
Prior to the effect being performed, a beautiful wooden chest is padlocked and handed to the person in charge of the venue. He also agrees to display it prominently until the day of show with a small sign stating, “This Chest Contains A Prediction of the Future.” On the evening of the show, the person in charge is given the key to open the chest. Inside he finds a folded piece of paper. Another spectator then reads the headlines of the day’s newspaper out loud. The person in charge now reads out the written prediction. They are the same, not word for word, but there can’t be any doubt that the performer has indeed predicted the future! It is an unbelievable effect.
This type of prediction chest basically contains a prediction of a forthcoming newspaper headline, even though the chest has been under guard for over a week or longer. “The effect has been inspired by Mason/Arturo - The World’s Greatest Prediction Chest” and was also intended for the classic headline prediction; however, it could also be used for the more trendy current “Dream Date,” or “Dream Car” themes. The instructions have been written by Mr. John Talbot and outline extra routines which can be performed with the “The Telegraph Chest.” The mysteries that can be created with this system are limited only by one’s imagination!
The Telegraph Chest measures approximately 10cms wide, 8.8cms high and 8cms deep and has been completely handcrafted from natural aged teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish and slightly tarnished brass hardware has also been fitted for an age look. It also has an exceedingly clever injection method for the prediction billet and as a result, each unit was assembled using over 50 wooden parts and taking over 40 hours of work to make. It also comes complete with a wooden key box that measures approximately 8.5cms wide, 5.5cms high and 6cms deep and includes a padlock and keys.
Released soon. Our special thanks to Mr. John M. Talbot for the effect name
recommendation and for writing the instructions and routine ideas.

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I'm glad I bought it almost right away!
When I placed my order 59 were available.
A few hours afterwards 28
Then 14
Finally zero...

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
That was incredibly fast. I'm not sure exactly why... It certainly is a very special and collectable prop, but quite expensive too. I think it appealed to many new customers, and the dealers jumped on it as well!
Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
Supposedly even the dealers are already sold out ?
If true, this would be a very unusual occurrence

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
Seems to have been one of the fastest sales in the recent time. Especially the last 10 copies or so seem to have been sold in almost no time which seemingly led to problems in the ordering process for some buyers. It's like in the good old MW times .

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I received my copy today
I didn’t know how it worked and didn’t want to know, I wanted to be surprised.
And man, was I surprised!
Never thought it would work like that!
It’s simply amazing, clever and brilliant!
And very unusual, never seen this before...

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
Wow! You got it fast! I am looking forward to getting mine and seeing the working. Is anything examinable (even cursory)?
Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I can imagine that the surprise was great
Is a really extraordinary principle
Hope it works well in practise
Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I just posted my first impressions with the TC in the members section not knowing that Rob did that also here. So Rob, we had quite the same impressions .
Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I have this as well.
In principle I like it very, very much. It's really clever. But I worry a bit about handling this in a performance situation. How would you misdirect the audience in "the moment"?

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
These are exactly my considerations, but it could be that a magician think too critically
However, I find some overcoming handling barriers is a challenge with this trick ...

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
Just keep in mind.
Nobody will ever think of such a ‘weird’ mechanism.
I did a pretty good performance for my wife today, the Houdini effect, where Houdini manages to IMprison himself, with the help of the always so useful Quiver.
Audience has NO clue!
Audience HAS NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENS!
Do it slowly, and no sounds will be heard.

Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
I agree with Rob...
I chose a small vintage padlock for my set (and placed some more in the "key box"). I plan to use an outer plexi box to isolate the chest even more prior to the "revelation". Great addition to the collection!

Putting a little more into the "key box" is a useful distraction
This beautiful Plexiglas box is of course a perfect addition
Re: Magic Wagon - The Telegraph Chest
