Re: T-108 Soft Coins
This is a fun Tenyo. My daughter and I have one each.
This is a fantastic prop with a very visual effect. And the best part is that it's inspectable at the end.
My only issue with it is that, despite its dimunitive size, it's not ideal for walkaround magic. You need:
- Soft Coins
- 3 coins
- 3 pencils
- 1 piece of paper
IT's not the most conventional setup to carry, but fantastic if you have a more conventional means to carry it all.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
This was the second tenyo I ever got, but as MB magic works. I was maybe 9 or 10. It came out with crystal cleaver and I remember we bein crazy excited that there were magic tricks being sold in Tescos! Also I'd seen the demos on Saturday kids to and my little brain got spinning... how could they do that?! I had to find out!!
I was more excited by CC which was the first I ever got but this was also pleasingly sneaky! I loved that it even had its own 'tool' for locking it.
Done with the sheet of paper this is killer, haven't done it for ages but thinking about it it may e just right for the mystic ruby, I'll show him when he wakes up
Plus it's green so extra points there for looking classy. 8 stars

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Brett, if you use borrowed coins it's even better. Also... take it to a Chinese restaurant and use borrowed chopsticks! (Just don't borrow and old Chinese coins with the holes in, it'll make it significant shyly less impressive
Now you see me...
Re: T-108 Soft Coins
I really like this Tenyo trick! Convincing deceptive magic, easy to perform, can be examined, and typical of the Tenyo touch.
This was one of those Tenyos which made me laugh when I first discovered the method. How clever!
The first Magic Works series had six tricks which were all made by Tenyo and this was one of them. It's Hallmarked with Tenyo and MB. No changes were made to it.
If you use short pencils, you can carry everything in your shirt pocket for easy transport.
Please excuse me if I am stating things you already know.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Not all of the Tenyo items sold in the Magic Works line were manufactured by Tenyo. Many were made in the US by Milton Bradley. The only way to tell is if the item says "Made in Japan" on it (it is a legal requirement to state the country of manufacture).
Re: T-108 Soft Coins
I don't see any hallmark at all on the Magic Works Super Spike. It is identical to Tenyo's release except the Magic Wagon one has MB on the prop.
Did Tenyo make it?

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Question: Does anyone own a Soft Coins which came in the Japanese box? If so, what coin best fits in the compartment?
The one I use is the MB manufactured by Tenyo piece and it holds US Quarters perfectly. I am wondering if Tenyo made a model for use with a Japanese size coin which may be a different size than a US Quarter.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Ii have one from the Japanese box. It holds quarters just fine
Where's my colon?!
Re: T-108 Soft Coins
I believe the size will be the same (for Japan and English version) since they came from the same factory. At the back of the Japanese packaging, they used 3 different kind of coins, 100 Yen, the one with a hole and not clear with the last one.
Re: T-108 Soft Coins
This is my second magic work.
I like the effect but i think the trick is easier to do for a right-handed than a left-handed like me.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
i had a tenyo soft coins that didnt fit my uk 10 pence pieces very well and would not slide, which is weird as they are more or less the same size as us quarter.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
The trick was designed for three different size Japanese coins (original routine explained in Tenyoism). It will work with three US quarters.
You might try getting older worn down British coins. That should solve the problem.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
I have been informed that Soft Coins has been discontinued.
Another great Tenyo bites the dust!
If you want one, you may want to get it now.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Wow ... thanks for that info Steve. Lots of good Tenyo discontinued it seems ... . This one has a Chinese knock off that actually isn't THAT bad quality however - it locks like the Tenyo version does. Not the same quality in plastic, but it works ... .
Gonna find myself a spare Tenyo version however.

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
There's no need to buy a Chinese copy. Tenyo made Soft Coins for so long that copies should be available on the secondary market for $15 to $25 for decades to come.

That's great news Richard, and you better be right because I have not a single genuine Tenyo spare of this one!

Re: T-108 Soft Coins
Don't worry everyone! In the event that everyone else on the planet runs out of Soft Coins, I will still have them.

It's the first one I ever got. Looks really nice but the design and locking mechanism are not as deceptive as Tenyo's.
Re: T-108 Soft Coins
I completely forgot about the Marvin's Magic version! I got that one in one of their Executive Magic sets.
Someone once told me that Marvin's Magic made a brass version but I have never seen it. Has anyone ever seen one of those?

I am posting this photo to show the imprints I spoke of in a previous post.
Also, this is my first attempt to include a photo here on the forum. I think it worked!
