Paul Gertner Cups & Steel Balls
"let's continue on with this carnival-like atmosphere"
Re: Paul Gertner Cups & Steel Balls
He is one of my all-time favorites. When he was a young fella, he performed a feather act on Mister Roger's Neighborhood and it was terrific!

He considers the feather act, which I saw him do at a Tannen Jubilee, to be a total embarrassment. That's why he stopped doing it after only a few performances.
Re: Paul Gertner Cups & Steel Balls
Perhaps it was comments made to him or negative reviews about it that made him feel that way. I don't see any reason why he should have been embarrassed about the performance. He was young at the time so appropriate for his age and very creative.
I think I saw it on a Paul Gertner VHS tape. Perhaps it was called Silver and Steel. I can't find it on YouTube or would post it here. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of our members here and I would hope you would agree that it was good and certainly nothing to be ashamed of in any way.

No, I think he figured it out for himself.

The "Marked Cards" routine you refer to was created by Dr. Ewer and published in Genii. What you are seeing is Gertner's clever presentation of the idea.
