Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Released 8 July 2018
The next release by Magic Wagon will be on Sunday 8 July 2018.
Ultimate Mental Boxes
Six small boxes and six numbered chips are displayed. While the performer’s back is turned, a spectator is asked to mix the chips thoroughly and then to place one chip in each of the boxes so to create a six digit number, for example let’s say the number is “326415”. Each of the boxes are then closed and mixed completely by the spectator. Once the performer turns around, he is able to reveal the exact six digit random number selected!
Please note that six numbers in total can now be used, which was not possible with any other version that we have previously produced!
Each box measures approximately 5cms wide, 3cms high and 5cms deep and has been individually and meticulously handcrafted from high quality metallic silver faux leather and fully lined with velvet fabric.

Re: Magic Wagon Ultimate Magic Boxes
Wow that's great! Another mentalism effect!
6 little boxes, 6 round chips with the numbers 1 to 6...
Spectator puts them in a random order in the boxes, mixes the boxes...
Yet the magician is able to tell the exact in which they're placed.
This seems an impossible effect, unless there's something in the explanation that's missing...

Not really sure if you're being sarcastic or not?Rob Rand wrote:Wow that's great! Another mentalism effect!
I'm quite sure some key information has been left out in the description, yes. Or perhaps finally MW has produced some real magic?Rob Rand wrote:This seems an impossible effect, unless there's something in the explanation that's missing...
I can however think of one method that could allow this, but since this is in the open forum, I think it's best to not discuss working theories.

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
I have their previous version called 'Mental Boxes'. It is based on an old principle. No clever gimmicks It's an OK trick, nothing more, nothing less.
Another 'ultimate' version of one of their previous effects ... .

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Yes Øyvind, it was meant a bit sarcastic.
And no, I am not excited about it.
David, thanks for letting us know they have made a similar effect.
I prefer at the moment effects made under the supervision of Joe Long...
I was lucky to be able to obtain his small version of Block thru Wand.
MW should combine its forces with some creative and clever minds. Cleverness and Craftmanship that's what I prefer.

All sold out!
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Curious that there are no reviews yet. Maybe people are disappointed?

No reviews usually means it was disappointing, people are encouraged to keep their views to themselves on the MC if they are disappointed !John B. wrote:Curious that there are no reviews yet. Maybe people are disappointed?
I don't think anyone here bought one.

So are we talking 6 boxes, 6 chips and a shifty shuffle?
Now you see me...

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Yep Simon. Isn't that exciting?
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Excuse my ignorance, but is a "shifty shuffle" some specific magic term? As far as I understand, the shuffling of the chips is (and replacing in the boxes) done by the spectators while the performer has his back turned?
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
I’m only guessing but I’m pretty sure when the spectator ‘shuffles’ the chips it’s under the direction of the performer based on a set of rules. It’s a principle employed by Tenyo and indeed the esteemed prestidigitational engineer, Jenzo Harmonics
Now you see me...
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Ah, that explains it, but then I'd say the description is a bit misleading.

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
I had to order one of these, even it it's a lot of money for what it is. I could of course quite easily make my own version, but it would obviously look a lot cheaper than this one.
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
It is clearly a relative of Badlands Bob, yes. It is also a close relative of Badlands Box, which was a box to simplify handling of Badlands Bob (no gimmick to hide). And finally it is a distant relative of "Diceolation", hence the name "Mini Diceolation". Like the latter, the die can be taken out, which is not the case for Badlands Bob.PeterW wrote:Is this a new twist on Badlands Bob?

The price is of course very high for what it is, so I expect to be disappointed, but since I don't own anything manufactured by Magic Wagon (or Viking Magic for that matter), I decided I'd bite the bullet this time.
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
I also purchased this new piece. I haven't bought any Magic Wagon items in months, so looking forward to this one.

Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Yes I also ordered this item. I've had the original Diceolation but found it too big, so I traded it. I consider this small version as an improvement over Diceolation. Because of its dimensions and because you can do the same as with the big brother of it. Of course it isn't exactly the same, but I believe, and hope, this will become a new classic of Magic Wagon.
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
Technically, this isn’t a Magic Wagon release. It’s a collaboration between Magic Wagon, Viking, and Tony Curtis.
It appears that it was Tony Curtis who wanted this created and with the help of Magic Wagon and Viking, it came together and each contributed to the props.
The small size does make it more desirable than the original but aren’t we comparing apples and oranges? I will pass on this but wish Tony success with it.

It's a Tenyo day in the neighborhood!
Re: Magic Wagon - Ultimate Mental Boxes
It is already a success, at least when it comes to sales, because it's now sold out. It remains to be seen if it lives up to the original, though. I have some doubts about parts of the description, especially this line:
"The boxes and die are now handed to a spectator for examination."
If there is no switching/sleight of hand involved, I'm curious to know how that can be possible without fear of the spectator to discover certain things.
