Eye of The Idol

Post by SimonC » Thu May 15, 2014 5:38 pm

EYE OF THE IDOL!!!
The closest thing to real magic tenyo has ever made in my opinion. And it was really spooky when I found mine... It was very son after I'd joined the forum, I'd been looking for a long time for a good quality one in a box. I'm not minor ally fussed about BNIP etc as I just collect to perform but this one I wanted. I eventually found one on eBay, it was a good price- £80, that last few I'd been bidding on were from all round the world, kept losing at the last minute. I checked the location of this one... It was in the same town as me, colchester. Out of everywhere else in the WORLD it could have been it was 10mins up the road. The idol had chosen me :)
Crazy stuff. I had bought one a few years ago but it turned out to be a CRRRRRAP knock off, the gimmicks didn't work and the props were really rough. I'd made a box for it to make it look a little nicer, it was on my desk at work half finished. Came in the next day and the cleaners had thrown it away! I was reallybpissed but it was obviously part of the idols bigger plan ;)
As I said, it's as close to real magic as I've seen from tenyo. I love science!
Now you see me...

Tenyo has been distributing Fantasio items in Japan for quite a while. They were still listing Fantasio items in the 2012 catalog but i noticed in the 2014 catalog they are not there any more.
It looks like they have recently stopped their partnership with Fantasio for some reason.

They do still distribute Johnson coin products however.

Wow...thanks for the update elliot. I never knew it. So those tenyo fantasio items are still available and not really rare items then. Can we find the tenyo with fantasio catalog somewhere in the internet ? Thanks.

I think the boxes you showed are vintage. Not 100% sure about this but i think more recently they used the same boxes Fantasio used.
I only have 2 japanese Tenyo catalogs - 2012 and 2014.
Here's a scan of 2012 which has some of their Johnson products and their Fantasio products. The 2014 catalog is the same but there is blank space where the Fantasio products were.

These Fantasio products in Tenyo boxes are great. They make a very nice addition to any Tenyo collection. Sometimes I like the Tenyo packaging more than the trick itself.

Very excited!
Found my first specially boxed Tenyo to purchase;
TC-03 Gorilla Bars
......hope to have it in the next week or so... :D

Now search begins (will it take months or years?):
Evaporating Glass and Water (for me, the routine is wonderfully magical)
and/or
Paddle Parade Collection (this set looks beautiful)

And then there is the 'impossible' to find:
Up and Down Ball
(is there no performance video of this effect?)

Mark, "Up Down Ball" is described in detail in Tenyoism: you could make it yourself.

I have a dupe "Evaporating Water and Glass" if you're interested. Email me at moobooks@verizon.net for details.

K Richard!
I wasn't aware of the revised 'Up Down Ball' section in Vol.2 Tenyoism.(P.882)
That's a wonderfully described DIY project of 'Up Down Ball' that is totally within my 'craft' skills. I look forward
to starting this soon!......just another extra benefit to Tenyoism! :D
I'll email you about your dupe 'Evaporating Water and Glass' that you mentioned.
Thanks again!

I have done "Up Down Ball" for a few people and must admit that they weren't very impressed. The movement of the ball in the tube is odd, and obviously something you are controlling, so the "magic" factor is not high. The idea is great, but I haven't been able to present it in a way that makes it magical. Perhaps if you asked the spectators to concentrate on making the ball rise, and really reinforce the telekinetic aspect, it might work better.

Also, you cannot be close to the spectators or they will see the gimmick.

About 7 or 8 years ago this toy was released... It's a Star Wars 'force trainer' that uses brainwaves to make a (very light) ball float in a tube. I think essentially you're controlling the amount of air that the unit generates to make the ball float but still... Brain waves! Pretty cool!
(And very noisy)
