Re: New 2017 Tenyo Line Coming Out on Thursday Sept.22

There are no English language instructions for the four Party Party Magic tricks. For some reason Tenyo decided not to sell them in the west, hence no need for translated instructions. Having looked at all of them, and looked at the instructions, they are all self-explanatory except the card trick.

Re: Japanese Only Tenyo

Chocolate cigarettes come in a paper wrapper and look like a cigarette. Candy cigarettes have no wrapper: they're just a stick of sugar candy.

Re: Japanese Only Tenyo

I think a crayon or pencil is a good option because they are ordinary objects and can be examined. There's nothing to arouse suspicion. However, you can also use candy cigarettes which are still made and sold here (among other places): http://www.oldtimecandy.com/walk-the-candy-aisle/candy-cigarettes/

Re: Japanese Only Tenyo

You would never dare give a child chocolate cigarettes in the United States. The kid's parents would yell at you.

Re: Japanese Only Tenyo

It's hard to imagine bringing out a cigarette (or something that looks like one) without most people recoiling. I almost never see anyone smoke where I live.

When I happen to be in New York, I see a lot of kids (dumbbells who should know better) smoking. College students, no less.

Re: Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah!!!

Happy holidays, everyone!

Here's a little bit of holiday Tenyo news for you: I've been told that Tenyo expects to put out another 15 or so new tricks next year!

And the Party Party Magic line is well worth buying. You can easily figure out the workings from the illustrations.

Re: Two Different Pokemon Magic Sets

I have the Astro Boy science set: it's quite rare. Don't think they made any Astro Boy magic tricks, though. Elliot, I didn't know about that blue set you linked to: it's yet a third variation and has a pair of boomerangs in it rather than the floating bill. I was referring to this one: http://globa...

Two Different Pokemon Magic Sets

I haven't seen this mentioned here, but I'm sure most of you have seen Tenyo's Pokemon set that's available for about $30 online. This one, for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Miracle-Magic-20-japan-import-by-Tenyo-/322359379356?hash=item4b0e1dc59c:g:aSIAAOSwImRYUTGl Well, this is not the f...

Dancing canes are readily available. There are two versions at the moment, I think: regular Mickey, and Mickey from Fantasia. They're cheap, too. (I never saw the Pooh version before!) The special versions of Dynamic Coins are still sold at DisneySea in the Arabian Coast area, where Tenyo has a demo...

Re: Disney Magic

Elliott, you've made an excellent start. There are a few things there I was unaware of.

I'd say there are another 150 items at least.

But you should separate your list into general Disney magic tricks sold in Japan, and those only made for and sold at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

Re: How do you maintain sponge magic props ?

Sponges deteriorate over time. There's no way around that.

But Tenyo's super soft sponge seems to do better than most others. I haven't had any of those dry out yet.

Re: Tenyo Sets

This set has very odd similarities to a Pressman magic set made the same year. A number of the items are identical, including the printed cardboard boomerangs. The box turns into a table. Plastic coin tray, etc. I can't find an image online, and mine is in the attic, but if I get a chance will take ...

Re: Tenyo Sets

The coin tray was invented by Hofzinser and has appeared in numerous magic sets over the past 100 years.

The same year it was in that Tenyo set it also appeared in a Presto magic set from Pressman toys in the US.

Re: Shigeru Sugawara 1977 Tenkai Prize Book

I'm pretty sure the book is widely available at Tenyo Magic Corners. You might try sending an email to Billy at his Magic Corner at the Takashimaya Dept. Store in Shinjuku. Try googling "Tenyo Billy" or something like that.
