Re: Sword Through Die

It was released as part of Petrick and Mia's Signature series. There are four tricks that you were supposed to be able to do one right after another. Never got around to getting them but they always looked interesting to me. Here are some videos of the effects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VglCHSU...

Re: Tenyo Non-Magic Items

Getting back to the banks for a sec... Here is a link to a French Tenyo Tribute Site (not Stereo's) that shows a nice assortment of the banks. Here is the French Translation of the text next to the bank where Mickey is flying on a bird. ART BANK (large) Creator: Shigeru Sugawara Two animated version...

Re: T-201 Mystery China Box

I like to push the switch down very slowly. While I am reaching for the next ball and talking about what I am going to do, I am slowly pushing the switch down so that by the time I am ready to drop the ball in the switch is all the way down. That way there are no sudden moves to attract attention. I...

Re: Better Performance? Crystal Cleaver or Dragon's Altar

I agree. Crystal Cleaver is the better effect. It just looks better and I find it to be more baffling as well. Besides, you could also borrow someone's ring for the effect which makes it more interactive also.

Re: happy Father's Day

When I first started buying Tenyo I let my kids play with them all the time. I was really just buying them to play with and didn't realize how collectable they were. Needless to say a couple of items broke and I found out that they were not so easy to get anymore. They are now in a cabinet and I onl...

Here's some pics of a really old Tenyo magic set. Not 100% sure but I believe these sets were made in the 1930's.

Re: T-105 Tunnel Of Darkness

Yeah, Roberto's presentation is great. I remember it caused quite a bit of controversy when it was first posted. I already had the trick but still had to watch the video a couple of times to figure out how he did it. I was thinking a good companion for this might be Crash Dice. You can change the co...

The tricks are still discontinued. I believe what was on Ebay was in the Japanese packaging which was completely different than the English packaging.

Re: Dynamic Coins Patent

Actually according to Magicpedia, Nickels to Dimes was invented in 1926 by Walter Gibson so I am not sure what new addition Frank renz patented in 1947.

Re: Dynamic Coins Patent

The idea of the gimmicked cap is very old. Nickels to Dimes was the most common trick to use this gimmick and it predated Dynamic Coins by quite a while. Tenyo just took the idea and added a second cap thereby being able to have the coins disappear and appear under either cap, as well as penetration...

Re: Specially Boxed Tenyo

I think the boxes you showed are vintage. Not 100% sure about this but i think more recently they used the same boxes Fantasio used. I only have 2 japanese Tenyo catalogs - 2012 and 2014. Here's a scan of 2012 which has some of their Johnson products and their Fantasio products. The 2014 catalog is ...

Re: Specially Boxed Tenyo

Tenyo has been distributing Fantasio items in Japan for quite a while. They were still listing Fantasio items in the 2012 catalog but i noticed in the 2014 catalog they are not there any more. It looks like they have recently stopped their partnership with Fantasio for some reason. They do still dis...

Re: T-203 Salt Cups

This is a pretty good trick that one could make a nice routine for.

My problem is that when i try it, the salt keeps getting stuck in the mechanism making the gimmick noisy and hard to close correctly.
Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

Re: Japanese Only Tenyo

When I originally bought the Magic Works version of this trick from someone it did not come with the sword. When I asked about it, he said he threw the sword out long ago because it never worked with the sword anyway. My guess is he was trying to follow the picture instead of reading the instructions.

I don't think it's a misprint. The instructions say the same thing. Maybe it referring to the 70s looking kids in the picture or maybe you are supposed to insert your own name. :)

Re: Tenyo Sets

Here's a nice 1970s set that was distributed by Sears in the USA.
Comes with the original versions of 6 Tenyo Tricks.
The box on the bottom right contains the handkerchief and gimmick for Penetro Coin and a fake wooden match for Coin through Match.

Tenyo still sells the Micro Bank, Spin Bank, and Art Banks. They are pretty easy to find.

By the way my favorite Art Bank is the one with Mickey Mouse flying on a bird. The bird flaps its wing(s) when you put a coin in

Re: Tenyo Non-Magic Items

This is an interesting bank I picked up. There are four plastic plates with slots in them. To get a coin in the bank the slots must line up. Your spectators will try to line up the plates by tilting the bank but will end up just like the fella on the bottom of the package. :) There is a logical way ...

Re: Tenyo magic catalogs and routines ('Competition Winners'

The catalogs are interesting to look at but do not change much from year to year. I have picked up a couple when the price was right. Would not mind having some of the older ones but I am not really actively looking for them. Lately Tenyo has the English catalogs for download but there is not much t...

Yeah, rubber bands never last. Just got a brand new sealed item with a rubber band that looked to be in good condition but fell apart as soon as I touched it. Old rubber bands also tend to stain the apparatus as well. A while ago I bought a used Penetro Coin. The seller had left the rubber bands on ...
