David and Felderswynne my evil twin
I am interested in the mechanics and history of conjuring rather than acting as a performer. My reason for joining the Tenyo forum was to further my knowledge about how tricks are constructed. Most of the magic I own already is of the Mac variety. Other interests beside magic? I really enjoy watching crime dramas from the 1940s-1950s and music. So far I have been impressed with my encounters with Tenyo. I was unaware until recently that Tenyo had such a following. I think Tenyo captures an element of the Japanese aesthetic as I understand it.
I developed a new appreciation for Tenyo after discovering that an old effect was not broken, but had a locking device; allowing a spectator to examine the trick without discovering the secret. I have really been impressed by the genius of some of these tricks.
That old Tenyo trick that I thought was broken was the 'Glass Board' and I was unaware of its sophistication-the locking mechanism.

Welcome Felderswynne! Yes, please tell us what effect it was, or even better, let us guess Was it Dragon Altar ... ? Or Nostradaums Clock? These are two that come to mind that can be 'locked'.

Re: David and Felderswynne my evil twin
Guys, David added more info to his profile above, check it out.
Welcome David.
David, if you thought that Glass Board had a cool hidden gimmick, you should get Mystery Triangle. It has the coolest locking gimmick that is almost impossible for someone who does not know where it is to find it.

Welcome to the forum! Yes, you are in for a treat. Wait until you discover the cool locking mechanisms on some of their other effects.

Hello-
I have heard about the Mystery Triangle; it sounds clever and if can locate one loose but is in good shape, I will get it.

Re: David and Felderswynne my evil twin
They are still easy available David - take a look here for example: http://www.abramagicshop.com/general-ma ... gic-trick/
Don't let anyone sell you his or hers for double that price - I've seen some people sell theirs at Ebay for a lot more than that saying 'it is discontinued' (and it is), but a discontinued item doesn't always mean it is hard to find.
Do yourself a favour and if you can buy two, because in a year or two time they will become hard to find

Dear David,
I appreciate the advice. I do prefer to buy my tricks loose because they are often cheaper, and too, I will probably misplace the empty packaging. There should be a magic effect (if there isn't already) called scatterbrain
