Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
My friend Yasuo Amano, who runs the Hey Presto blog, took the abstract effect of "Perpetual Puzzle" and turned into something better, with a most clever presentation:

That is great thinking!! Love it. I might have to remake my set in blue with white blueprint markings on

That looks promising, Simon. Remember that it's important that the plastic pieces are transparent. (But they can be blue!)

Great idea of Japanmagic! Makes more sense!
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
I think I have some clear blue left, it's lovely
How come it needs to be clear? I can't remember

When I saw this getting started I was thinking he was going to add bedrooms as children are born. That might make for an interesting patter. The perfect house until the wife gets pregnant and then pregnant again with twins.
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Excellent idea ! I am quite surprise he used the same old terminology for toilet (WC) but slowly we are not using it anymore I think WC came from dutch language, isn't it right Rob ?
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
It stands for Water Closet as I understand.
It was a choice between that and Piss Cupboard. WC won

Thanks for sharing that presentation Richard.
Only suggestion I might make is to strongly call attention to the fact that the puzzle fits the frame perfectly as the presentation begins.

and now, on with the show ...

Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
I love the 'WC' and 'entrance' idea, but I think the 'baby' and 'twins' idea can have a better, funnier story to go with it!

Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Yes Victor, we Dutch still use WC if we go to the little room
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Once again, Japanmagic gives a terrific Tenyo trick an excellent destiny.
What a clever storyteller he is!

In Japan, the toilet is often in its own tiny room, a WC (Water Closet). That's why he has the tiny piece marked WC. It makes perfect sense in Japan to have separate "Bathroom" and "WC" pieces.

Thanks! It's not. Finished version I just wanted to get the idea infront of me so I could play with it. The white parts are actually the protective film and so will come away quite easily, my intention was to rub white acrylic into the etch lines as in Rosetta stones. It certainly has a bit more context then the original puzzle, the chap on YouTube had a real brainstorm there!

He certainly did Simon! It looks like you are going to take the idea to another level!

This looks incredible Simon! I want one!
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Fantastic work Simon !
Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Simon, just an idea. Is it possible to add measurement on the frame to show the demension on the floor plan? I think every floor plan will look perfect with it. It can be a convincer to spec that we can magically add the meter square without making any adjustment. I know it will be challenging to make one because it must be tricky and sneaky

Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
Simon, I don't know if this is possible with Tenyo's version of the Freer puzzle, but is it possible to add squares? That way you can count the number of squares and it should always remain the same which is a REAL convincer and adds something extra to the puzzle ... as in Puzzling Chocolate which I want to buy specifically for THAT reason!

Anyway, job WELL done already of course, looks fantastic!
I have a feeling the ULTIMATE version of the magic square will be released in the near future on this very forum

Re: Best Presentation for Perpetual Puzzle
I'll definitely try out the grid lines. You could also test it on your own version with a dry wipe pen and ruler. The dimensions are a bit strange but that's to be expected!
So the extra two rooms... on this version the smallest inewas'NURSERY' and the story would be about the magician and his wife who were poor and only had a small house then they bumped ugliest etc etc. But I think WC is better for that size of room and could be funnier 'they built their house but forgot the toilet!!!
The larger extra piece could be the nursery in that instance. On this quick prototype I just called it 'storage' but that's a bit weak. Any thoughts? I'll definitely make a few of these, and one will be making its way to me Japan magic (perhaps it will encourage him to join us, it could be a gift from the forum?
