I decided to make a block out of maple for my trick, to provide a contrast between it and the frame.

I took a cue from John Talbot and attached a silhouette of Houdini on the front.

Maple was my choice too ...
I would have used solid wood
But i leave the trick as it is now

Really like Houdini Block Escape, but agree, looks rather 'plain', so decals are a fantastic solution. Found slight noise can be effectively masked by appearing to 'wriggle' the block free - resulting wood against wood clicking provides perfect distraction for that 'moment' in what's a perfect, beautiful illusion.
