Hands on Henna

The tradition of Henna is to apply these beautiful designs to the hands or feet. Nowadays, its been put to backs, around necks, stomachs and even shaved heads! Even though the ancient designs are still used, they are put in untraditional ways.

Henna is used on various occasions. The latter range from simple birthday parties to grand weddings. The designs vary from small plain designs to huge elaborate patterns as well.

When henna is applied to the skin it colors and cools it simultaneously. This also occurs when its applied to the hair. Hence people who live in hot areas put it to their heads to keep their scalps cool and refreshing.

Mehendi is a painless procedure. When the skin comes in contact with it, they react and the chemicals in the leaf naturally stain the skin. Therefore water or soap can't take the color off once the henna is absorbed.
